Aisha remained perplexed. The compound was as silent as a graveyard and the fact that she had found herself alone with her children inside it, proved a point. Despite being in trouble and running helter skelter, people had avoided the compound, running in different directions.
She began to panic. Sweat broke out of her face as she gathered her children together, looking for a possible exit or means of escape. Suddenly a tall, dark young man stepped out of the only house in the compound. The house was covered with thick shrubs and bushes.
Moving towards Aisha, Aisha began to feel uncomfortable. She was desperately looking for a way out, when she heard him speak.
"Welcome, don't be afraid..you are safe here".. His voice was deep and it sounded scary to Aisha. Aisha studied him..he had a deep scar on the left side of his eyes, everything about him appeared scary although he seemed to really want to help.
As he beckoned, Aisha followed him, leading her children along too. A part of her wanted to go back and escape from the compound..but she knew it was better to remain hidden with this strange man who now seemed harmless. Going back to the street may spell doom for her, she could get hurt before getting to Zainab, who lived several streets away. She was certain the abini boys were still on rampage.
The man led them to an underground and Aisha wondered why the house had an underground. She was about to ask when as if reading her mind, he responded " this place is for special guests like you"
This response made Aisha more afraid. She immediately responded that she no longer wanted his help and he should let her and her kids leave.
"you can't leave now.. You are in here already..besides, if you try to leave you will lose your life and that of your kids.."
Shocked at the statement, Aisha asked "why ?"..
"the abini boys ..they won't rest until they've killed every wandering soul today.." he replied
Aisha was more shocked and afraid... "how do you know this?"
The strange man gave an hysterical laugh for the first time since Aisha met him... Then he replied sternly " you ask too many questions...you have not even started the task ahead of you..."
"what task?" ..Aisha immediately asked, a little irritated.
"I'm not going to indulge you further by answering more questions...now move"
He immediately held her and forcefully separated her from her kids who began to cry . Aisha began to plead with the man, as she tried to scream for help, he hit her by the neck and she passed out.
Aisha struggled to open her eyes...it was dark, she wondered if her eyes were still closed or she was in a dark room. Aisha remembered her ordeal and she burst into fresh tears. She struggled to stand to her feet then she walked round the dark room. She realized it had a door which was of course firmly locked. She also saw a small window which was high up. She wondered where are children were and whether they are save.
Suddenly the door to the room burst open and the strange man came in with two other men. Aisha was afraid, she began to plead again and ask after her children but the strange man faced the other men and said " take her to the others, she is ready for the task"
As the men tried to seize Aisha she screamed and struggled with all her might..
The strange man turned to her and said, "if you want to see your children again, go with these men quietly"
Aisha began to cry as she followed the men..If only her husband hadn't push her out into the wicked world...if only she had listened to her grandmother who never liked him..
Interesting, aisha is in for a big adventure.. Can't wait for the next episode, great story dear... it can only be ponmile.. # smiles
