The Eternal side of love

So what is it like finding your soul mate? Some say, the most beautiful rendition of love is to find your soul mate. But how often does it happen that you are able to find that person you can’t take your eyes off? Have you been searching for that person who you can spend your life with in this world and even in eternity? If you haven’t, look around again, but this time from the soul of a believer.

Greek mythology has the oldest remnants on the theory of soul mates, and religion has a strong relation with the theory of soul mates too. In the Islamic belief “your soul mate is predestined for this world and the eternity”. Similarly, Hinduism also has a same belief but not for the eternity. The concept of soul mates can also be found in Christian scripture. “The Lord God said, it is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” (Genesis).

So it looks like we have been the concept of soul mates in legacy and we have somehow taken it as given.

Now, let’s get down to what does finding your soul mate actually means. To tie a knot of marriage with a person, is this the definition of getting along with your soul mate? If yes, then what about those people who never were able to get married, or the ones who were never able to find a person that they could emotionally and physically connect.

Jamal says he found his soul mate in his friend. The two, who share a brotherly bond are inseparable. They have been meeting each other regularly from last 25 years and they have been there for each other in every thick and thin. “We are like brothers, and we have been very close. I believe finding a soul mate hasn’t anything to do with finding a person from the opposite sex and getting married to him/her. And even it is, there is a possibility that there are more than one soul mates out there for you.”, said Jamal. “you know you are with your soul mate, if you have been able to reach the pinnacle of your relationship. You do everything together. You have that desire to be together. You wish to see each other and when you do, you never get bored by the sight of each other.”

If your heart goes unconsciously and unconditionally for a person, this could possible mean, you have found that special person.
