Yea, I didn't want my comment to come of in the sense of "it's been done before." I love seeing how people deal ethical realizations like that.
I highly recommend the book (the rest in the series are ok, but the first is awesome) which is an easy read, on par with DaVinci code. The movie doesn't fully do it justice, in my opinion.
