Stars slid across the view screen in soft streaks. Captain Picard shifted in his chair. “Data, adjust course for Starbase 26.”
Data turned in his chair to face Captain Picard, lowered his chin and looked at Picard through the tops of his eyelashes. “Yes Mr. Captain.”
“Data what are you doing?” asked Picard.
“In my extensive study of Earth cats I found that when cats present themselves in a way that is considered to be cute, humans often react in a more gentle manner. I wanted to see if the same would apply to you.”
“Just set the course and get to work Mr. Data,” said Picard.
“Yes Sir,” said Data, swiveling in his chair and punching the commands into his console.
“And Mr. Data,” Picard lowered his voice, “you can join me in my cabin later.”
“Yes Sir,” said Data.
