"We're alone" I tell Chris from the window as I watch our parents leave. They would kill us if they knew what we planned on doing but we needed to find the truth...
My parents are very religious and believe that communication with the dead was of the devil. We lived in this house most of my life and I never really believed in the paranormal. That was until 2 weeks ago...
A month ago girl named Alice went missing, she was my age, I didn't know her but soon it almost felt like maybe I did. Her face was plastered on news papers and milk cartons. A big reward was offered for her safe return. I don't know if the person who took her saw all the attention she was getting and got scared or that he never planned on letting her go, but two weeks ago her body was found.
The strange thing is, that was about the time the paranormal stuff started. At first it was small. Books I know I put on my desk would be on my bed when I would leave and come back to the room. The closet door would slam and wake me up at night but nothing would be inside of it.
Things were getting weirder but not to the point where I was scared. I decided that before things get to that point, my brother and I will try talking to her through a Ouija board. Something we knew my parents wouldn't approve of. They didn't believe us when we told them about what was happening so we needed to get to the bottom of this ourselves.
I went online and looked up how to properly use the board. We knew our parents would be going on a date night soon so on my way back from school I got a board and hid it till they left.
The moment I watched their car turn a corner, my brother and I got to work. We set up the candles and I explained the rules.
1.It doesn't matter what happens, don't take your hand off the planchette.
- If you get too freaked out, tell me and we will say goodbye.
- If something evil comes through we say goodbye and properly dispose of the board.
We agreed to stick to the rules and started playing. "Is anyone here" I asked. At first nothing happened but slowly the planchette started moving, slowly at first but then quicker towards the yes.
"Are you good?" I decided was the best next question. The planchette moved off the yes and then back on.
I felt relieve as I saw the answer then asked "what is your name?" The planchet moved to A then L then I then C... It was still moving to the E when I whispered her name. ALICE. "When did you die" I ask shaking a little. The planchette moved to the date. It was 2 days before she was found. "Alice, are you the one who keeps moving things around?" I ask, a little nervous about her answer. The planchette moved to no.
"Is there another spirit in the house?" I ask, the planchette moves to no. "Is there something evil in the house" again the planchette moves to no. "Where did you die?" I asked a little afraid that it might be here. The planchette seems to hesitate but then spells out dark. I ask if it was a dark room and it moves to yes. I ask if it was in this house and it moves to no. A little releaved but confused, I asked why she was here. The planchette moved to spell warning.
Scared and a little bit nervous that I mis read I asked if she was here to warn me. The planchette moved to yes. At this point my brother is getting freaked out but I convince him to stay longer. "What do you want to warn me about?" I asked, unsure if I wanted to know the answer. The planchette slowly moved to spell killer.
I ask if it was her killer who was moving my stuff around and it moves to yes. I then ask if the killer was her killer as well. Again it moves to yes. My heart was beating in my chest at this point. But I needed to know two more things. "Where is the killer?" It was a question but sounded more like a demand. The planchette moves to spell inside. "Inside where?" It was barely a whisper, I was so scared it felt like I was ready to cry. The planchette moved again. It spelt house.
"My house?" I ask and it immediately moved to yes. "Is he in this room?" I ask and it goes to no. I look at my brother and motion for him to lock the door and grab the phone. Then I did something stupid. I asked if he was here to kill me tonight. It moved to yes.
I quickly call my brother over and we say goodbye. I put the board away sobbing as he calls the police. Then the power goes out. We could hear footsteps come up the stairs. I blew out the candles and told my brother to be very quiet.
He was still whispering to the police that someone was in the house when the door handel started to juggle. There was a frustrated pound on the door. The pounding got louder and we realized he was trying to kick the door in. I run to the window, throw it open and jump. There was nothing that would catch my fall and I knew that I would get injured. I got up and saw Chris hesitate and then jump. As fast as we could we ran to our neighbors house...
Mrs Jacobs was already standing by the door waiting for us as we ran up her driveway. We sat on her porch as we waited for the police. They showed up quickly and dragged a crazy looking man out of the house. He was screaming and hissing that I belonged to him.
We played one last time. This time to thank Alice for the warning. Without her help we might have both ended up dead. Nothing happened when we played the second time. I would like to think Alice has moved on.

yah bro...you just awsome...
I am inclined to your parents believe, in fact I don't believe that the dead do talk to people. The levels of horror expressed here are enough to change one's belief.
I enjoy your style and flow of writing.
Thank you. This is a frictional story however. I will never play with a Ouija board
