This is an authorized translation in English of a post in French by Vincent Le Roy (@vincentleroy): Le voyage au bout du monde • chapitre 2
As my primary language is not English, there are probably some mistakes in my translation.
Remember that the person who speaks here is NOT me, Vincent Celier (@vcelier), but Vincent Le Roy (@vincentleroy), a French guy.
Journey to the end of the world
Chapter 2
At that time, I do not have a boat yet and getting on this boat is a real pleasure. It is a good size and the ride looks serene. Passengers board in silence, except for a few who greet and discuss with the crew. They are islanders. For the most part, they are young and they obviously return for a few days to their families, far from their boarding schools.
With Marine, we climb on the upper deck. The maneuver is precise, slow and calm; the boat sails through the roadstead of Audierne and we see the surf further south. Indeed, calm is only going to be short-lived. The swell is up and the boat is breaking waves. It is powerful and we risk nothing except a good seasickness. The waves explode on the bow and spray us 20 meters away with fine droplets. It's a little cold but we are fine.
The crossing is not so long but beautiful. Along the coast, we pass the tip of the Raz, and I point out to Marine that we will go see the sun go down tonight at this place but on the coast this time before going to sleep at the hotel. I am far from imagining that nothing will unfold as I had planned. For now, we pass "La Vieille" (the old lady), this legendary lighthouse photographed from helicopters when the waves smash everything. Today, it's calm and the weather is nice even if the sea is a little rough. Basically, the island of Sein begins to take shape.
On the boat, the islanders are between them. Blasé or not, the show does not interest them. They speak. Clearly, they all know each other. There is this girl, cute who plays the little star among the sailors who makes her would like to eat her alive. It is true that she is a pretty, even if she is a fashion disaster. You can feel two worlds on board, the islanders on one side and the tourists on the other. in fact, from this point of view, the tourists are not very numerous and so much the better.
The island is getting closer and we will soon be at the dock. The area is full of rocks and navigating the area should not be easy. Our boat hesitates in front of the island. Entering the cove, I can make out a crowd on the platform that is obviously waiting for our arrival. I still do not know that the island lives to the rhythm of this boat and that its arrival marks the beginning of the day.

Hola @vcelier
