After a week of going to the palace and not presenting her request, Aladdin's mother is finally interrogated by the sultan. And, after taking many precautions to not be retaliated on later, she finally tells the whole story.

The sultan is slightly amused. But he has not seen the gift yet.

We see also here that the grand-vizier will probably not be a friend of Aladdin and his mother.

ON THE SEVENTEENTH NIGHT

Sheherazade said:

Indeed, the next day the mother of Aladdin went to the palace, holding by the four corners the scarf which contained the gift of precious stones. And she was determined to overcome her shyness and make her request. And she entered the diwan, and placed herself in the first row, in front of the Sultan. But, like the first time, she could not take a step further or a gesture that would attract the attention of the chief scribe. And the session was adjourned, without result; and she returned, her head down, to announce to Aladdin the failure of her attempt, but promising him success the next time. And Aladdin was forced to make a new provision of patience while admonishing his mother for her lack of courage and firmness. But that was not of much use, because the poor woman, six days in a row, went to the palace, with the porcelain dish, and always placed herself opposite the sultan, but without more courage or success than the first time. And certainly, she would have gone back there a hundred more times, just as uselessly, and Aladdin would have died of despair and suppressed impatience, if the sultan himself, who had ended up noticing her, seeing that she was in the front row at each diwan session, had not had the curiosity to find out about her and the reason for her presence. Indeed, on the seventh day, after the end of the diwan, the sultan turned to his grand-vizier and said to him: “Look at this old woman who is holding something in her hand in a scarf. For several days she has been coming regularly to the diwan and stands motionless without asking anything. Can you tell me what she's doing here or what she wants?" And the grand-vizier, who did not know Aladdin's mother, did not want to remain short of an answer and said to the Sultan: "O my master, she is an old woman among the many old women who come at the diwan only for trivialities. And this one must, without a doubt, have to complain about the fact that they sold her rotten barley, for example, or that her neighbor insulted her, or that her husband beat her!" But the Sultan was not content with this explanation and said to the vizier: "All the same, I want to question this poor woman. Bring her forward, before she retreats with the others!" And the vizier answered by hearing and obedience, raising his hand to his forehead. And he took a few steps towards Aladdin's mother and, with his hand, beckoned her to come forward. And the poor woman, all trembling, advanced to the front of the throne and fell rather than prostrate herself, and kissed the earth in front of the Sultan, as she had seen the other assistants do. And she remained in this posture until the grand-vizier came to touch her shoulder and help her to get up. And she stood, full of emotion; and the sultan said to her: “O woman, for several days I have seen you come to the diwan and remain motionless without asking anything. So tell me what brings you here, and what you want, so that I can do you justice. And Aladdin's mother, a little encouraged by the benevolent voice of the sultan, replied: "May Allah send down his blessings on the head of our master the sultan. As for your servant, O great king, she begs you, before presenting her request, to condescend to grant her the promise of security, otherwise, I will be afraid to offend the ears of the sultan, seeing that my request may seem strange or singular!" Now the sultan, who was a good and magnanimous man, hastened to promise her safety; and he even gave the order to clear the room completely, in order to allow the woman to speak to him freely. And he kept with him only his grand-vizier. And he turned to her and said: “You may speak, — the security of Allah is upon you, O woman!" But Aladdin's mother, who had completely regained courage because of the sultan's affable welcome, replied: "I also ask our sultan in advance for forgiveness for whatever he may find improper in my request, and for the extraordinary audacity of my words! And the sultan, more and more intrigued, said: “Hasten to speak without restriction, O woman! Allah's forgiveness is upon you and his grace, for all that you may say and ask! »

Then Aladdin's mother, after prostrating herself a second time before the throne and calling upon the sultan all the blessings and favors of the Most High, began to relate all that had happened to her son, from the day when he had heard the criers proclaiming the order to the inhabitants to hide in their houses to give way to the procession of El Sett Badrou'l-Boudour. And she did not fail to tell him the state in which Aladdin was who had threatened to kill himself if he did not obtain the princess in marriage. And she told the whole story in detail, from beginning to end. But there is no point in repeating it. Then, having finished speaking, she lowered her head, in great confusion, adding: "And it only remains for me, O great king, but to beseech Your Highness not to hold me responsible for the madness of my son, and to excuse me if the tenderness of the mother pushed me to come and transmit such a singular request to you! »

When the Sultan, who had listened to these words with great attention, because he was just and benevolent, saw that Aladdin's mother had fallen silent, and far from being indignant at his request, he began to laugh, with kindness, and said to her: "O poor woman, and what are you carrying in this scarf that you hold by the four corners...

— At this point in her narration, Scheherazade saw the morning appear and quietly fell silent.

"O poor woman, and what are you carrying in this scarf that you hold by the four corners..."

The suspense that I got by reading this last line; it felt like I wanna jump into the 18th night part already :D

Now, to the early paragraphs of this part. I was cringing as I learn that Aladdin's mother was finally noticed by the Sultan and she was asked about her intentions for coming to the Diwan. Imagine the terror that she has been subjected to the scrutiny of the Grand-Vizier who's judging her by who she is without asking any questions. The negative assumptions towards her are disheartening. Despite that, Aladdin's mother tells the story in full detail to the Sultan; I'm amazed by her tenacity. Even though it took her long enough to gather enough courage to do so; she still managed to get the opportunity to get the attention of the Sultan to hear what she has to say.

To be honest, I didn't expect the Sultan to be this kind at this point. I guess his generosity to give his time, attention, and a promise of safety to Aladdin's mother has motivated her to give her best shot at speaking to the Sultan. I'm impressed by the personality of the Sultan.

Of course, at this point, I'm highly doubtful that the Sultan will accept the proposal from Aladdin to marry the Princess (her daughter). The precious gems as gifts may be alluring; I don't think the Sultan will be convinced by it. Considering the fact that the Princess is the daughter of the Sultan who is the King of their country; there's "zero" chance for Aladdin to be with the Princess and I hate to be pessimistic about it. It's just rational that the Sultan will deny the proposal. Probably, he gave Aladdin's mother attention and time because he pities the old woman who has been coming to the Diwan for several days now. And maybe he's just curious about the gifts that she brought for the Sultan.

But I don't want to get ahead of the story... I'm already excited to read the next part to learn Sultan's reaction as he sees the gifts brought by Aladdin's mother. Now, I have something to look forward to by tomorrow :)

six days in a row, went to the palace, with the porcelain dish, and always placed herself opposite the sultan, but without more courage or success than the first time.

This speaks of determination and courage! What an interesting twist of events. At last, the Sultan sees and grants her audience. I like how Aladdin's mother transforms from a timid and fearful woman to someone brave enough to approach the Sultan and make her request.

I also like the Sultan's response to her. It is a testament to his just and magnanimous character. If he had been angry or felt insulted, it would have meant the death of the poor woman. Let's hope the gift she carries will sway Sultan's decision in her favour. 😊😊

Change is always hard and facing new situations can be stressful and put weights on our shoes. I can understand the mother of Aladdin making the courage for pleading her son's love for the sultan's daughter and simply staying as a stone for so many times. But destiny helped her when the Sultan was curious about the request and facilitated a climate for her to speak. Now that the words are out there and as the Sultan has yet to see the treasure, it just remains for us to wait and see his reaction.

Before speaking to the Sultan about Aladdin's marriage to his daughter, Aladdin's mother was filled with emotions that made her stand still without breathing. She was nervous about approaching the powerful ruler, knowing that he was known for his demanding nature.

At the same time, she was determined to do what was best for her son and saw this as an opportunity to secure his future. Despite her nerves, she was confident in her abilities to use her wit and diplomacy to convince the Sultan to grant Aladdin's request once he requested her to speak. While she felt the weight of the request and was afraid on how the Sultan might react, she still presented the proposal to him.

Oh man we have read the 17th part of this amazing story, The story is truly amazing and gaining of many people including me, To be very honest, I wait for your post on the daily basis so that I could get to know what is about to happen in the story.

Alladin thinks it's a very easy task go to sultan and ask Sultan for her daughter hand, You need high courage and brave heart to speak in front of Sultan. In Arab Sultan is consider as one of highest rank person among all the citizens and it is obligate for every citizen to respect his Sultan.

As the Sultan here, was wise and kind, he noticed the Old is coming on the daily basis and she isn't able to speak ask her request or demand to Sultan, thought Vazier Told sultan that She has come for some ordinary matter, but sultan doesn't believe him and want to listen her himself, that what every Sultan Should do.

I love the way Sultan listen to her with calmness and full attention, and he doesn't get angry on her due to this and politely ask her what she is carry with her. I think Sultan will ask her to bring Alladin to him and want to interrogate Alladin himself. WE will see in the next episode.

There is nothing that a mother does not go through to help a child. And Aladdin's mother is no exception, with her perseverance she finally got an audience with the Sultan and expressed her request.
It seems that the Sultan welcomed her and listened to what she had to say. But will it be enough to fulfill Aladdin's wishes? That question will have an answer later.

The story of this night describes Aladdin's mother going to see the Sultan, which shows how nervous Aladdin's mother is.
I can understand this, because in a collective society, the king, as the core of a group, is naturally more respected. For the common people, they will treat the king differently and see them as people of a higher rank than themselves, which leads to estrangement and fear

Now the sultan, who was a good and magnanimous man, hastened to promise her safety; and he even gave the order to clear the room completely, in order to allow the woman to speak to him freely.

Women are naturally insecure, as long as men give you security, she will feel how kind and generous you are and a good man

The way Aladdin's mother is fearing is absolutely correct in my opinion, because when a person goes to a rich man's house with a relationship and the other person is not of such a match, then such fear remains. But she also loves her child so much that she can't deny him and her child doesn't understand anything other than love and she should marry him. It also happens here that when a poor person goes to a rich person for work, he does not tell the work out of fear that the next person will refuse.

Somewhere, the Sultan understood that this woman had been coming for a whole week but went back without saying anything, so his servant who had told the story could not believe that such a scene could happen is. The way the Sultan was treating his mother was very nice and the Sultan seems to be very good natured. When a person is scared, he cannot express himself properly to others in the same way that his mother cannot. The story is becoming more and more interesting now. Now that's just the wait to see what will happen in the total part.
