The law regarding tithing in the bible, never pertained to money. It was always only food and drink, to be enjoyed together. Anyone who tells you that "today It's money, before it was food because people didn't have money" is either misinformed or a liar. Nothing wrong with giving money of your own free will, but to say God commands a monetary tithe is unbiblical at best. Isn't it funny that tithing is the only law that churches say wasn't done away with?
That's true. I think tithing is giving the first ten percent of your bounty... that could very well mean food, shelter, compassion, or any good thing you can offer to someone in need.
according to the Bible only certain things could be considered a tithe offering, and they could only be brought to a certain place, after which certain things were to be done with them.
The Roman church decided to warp the understanding of things that could be a tithe, in order to rake in money, and cause us to break a very specific set of commandments.
