Turn on the light, I said to myself. Looking around the dimly lit room, I already noticed that I was not alone; there was another person, on the other side of the room. The person I was looking for was still out of sight; my vision was blurry. I saw something that resembled a bed or maybe something different than a bed. I walked towards the sleeping thing, the voice in my head saying that I needed to wake up that person.
“Robbie,” I said, speaking towards the sleeping thing. “Wake up.”
“Robbie, wake up.” I repeated, this time I spoke louder.
“Robbie, I said to myself. “Wake up.”
“Robbie,” I said again, standing beside the sleeping thing. “Wake up.”
“Robbie,” I said yet again, shaking the sleeping thing awake. The blinking eye that was now awake opened and looked around, at first the eye didn’t see me and appeared to be confused but then searched for someone. I decided to try and help the eye find my face, so I walked towards the sleeping thing, while it was blinking and looking into the shadows around it.
“Robbie,” I finally said. “Hey, Robbie.”
The eye looked at me, smiling when it saw my face. The eye looked back at its body and then at the bed or nap area, as I called it. The sleeping thing got up and looked at me but it couldn’t see me, and so it started walking around the room, looking for a way to see me. I walked to other side of the room and waited for the eye to head my way. Now that the eye was able to see me, I walked forward and stood where the eye could see me plainly.
“Robbie,” I said to the eye. “Wake up.” The eye yawned; the eye stretched, and then the eye started walking towards me. I smiled out of excitement; it’s been a while since I interacted with a living person. I was about to say “good morning” to the eye when I heard a loud, “thump” from behind me. I turned around to see a body on the floor, another eye was now waking up; the person was holding its head, as it was moving around in pain after the fall. The eye on the floor looked around and noticed that there was an eye standing right before it.
“Robbie,” I said, reaching out and touching its face. “Hey!”
The person ignored me and then fell flat onto the floor; it was taking its body time to wake up. I waited for the eye to respond, just like I have done with the other humans that I have met. But the eye didn’t respond, the eye just laid there, unmoving.
“Robbie,” I reached out and shook the sleeping thing which responded by cringing. “Wake up!”
The eye on the floor looked at me, and then slowly raised its hand, as if it was looking for something. I moved to the other side of Robbie and stood just out of the eye’s vision. I wanted to test the eye’s reflexes as I knew that humans used sight when they are walking or moving in general. I turned my back towards the eye which was still lying where it had fallen, and as I turned my head towards the eye, I hoped that the eye would try to grab me or reach for me.
“Robbie,” I said, turning and reaching my hand for the eye. I saw its hand moving around; it was looking for something, me apparently. The eye raised its hand; it made contact with my hand. Now all I needed was for it to take me.
“Robbie,” I said again. “Let’s go.”
The eye grabbed my hand, and then the eye was standing up and walking towards me. Robbie was taken but with the other eye which was still standing beside it. I was now both tied to the person which was standing beside the first eye and the eye which was lying on the floor. I turned around and looked for the remaining eye which then said “we need to leave.” I took the person’s hand and pulled it along, the person was now walking with us.
“Okay, let’s go,” I said. The eye standing beside Robbie looked around, it tried to see if anyone else was around the room. We headed towards the door, keeping the eye still standing there and I looked at the eye which was still on the floor. We reached the door; I opened it, the other eye lifted its hand to help me. I took the hand and let the eye stand up, looking oddly at the first eye. Robbie turned towards us; the person’s eye was now standing on the side of its head. Mini robots were floating around the room, moving up and down. The mini robots where moving too fast for the eye to notice anything.
I went out of the room; the other people followed me, the other eye which was still lying on the floor. Out in the hall, I could see many women in dresses. The dresses reminded me of people that I met a long time ago; they were dressed in much the same way. The women were walking around the hall, some of them talking to each other. I had an idea; I reached out and touched their dresses, seeing the reaction that I hoped that I would get.
“Robbie,” I said. “This way.”
The eye followed me until one of the women saw us, then it rushed towards where we were standing. The other eye was there also, the eye was being held by the woman. The eye grinned at me; it still had a hand on my book. I reached out and touched the woman on her dress, wondering if the woman in the dress was like the other women that I have seen before.
“Robbie,” I said to the woman. “Are you happy?” The woman looked confused, and then said something that sounded like gibberish. I tried again, “Are you happy?” The woman didn’t answer, instead she just looked around and then grabbed the eye with both hands. The woman walked backwards with the eye; the eye walked to me and grabbed my hand. The woman followed behind us as I was lead to another grand hallway with high ceiling and long windows with glass covering the entire sides. It was one of the prettiest rooms in the entire House.
“Robbie,” I said to the eye. “This way.” The eye smiled, but then it stopped as it noticed something behind me. I turned around; it was standing there another eye.
