Gallivant Brewery | Social Media Content Marketing Retainer

in #strategy7 hours ago

In January, I started working for a local craft beer brewery. I just landed my first social media content marketing retainer and I'm absolutely stoked about it. Gallivant Brewery is all about bringing unexpected flavors and combinations together in one bottle.

Social Media Marketing Retainer

I used to call this a "Content Year Plan" back in 2016, where I offered a service to create content in a few months for the whole year. Thinking and planning ahead is such a underrated way to create value to companies you work with. Nothing goes to waste the first year, and you can test things out, and adapt to the style as you progress through the year.

Back in 2016, Social Media wasn't as much implemented for usage in a business as it is today. So, I thought it would be a great way to introduce it again with a new coating. The difference? My approach. I learned quite a lot in that 1 year working for an agency. Mostly, the processing part of landing clients, and onboarding clients. These insights are super valuable to me, and I adjusted and researched a little bit more to get super efficient.

Pitch Deck

I first crafted a pitch deck, with some of my recent work. Which was to be honest, not that much, as I have stopped freelancing for quite some time, and worked for an agency for about a year. I designed the pitch deck myself. The goal was to show as much of work in a manner that the client could pause at whatever caught their attention. Of course, one thing to keep in mind, is to showcase work that might interest your client.

Proposal

After that, I set up a presentation for the proposal. This proposal guided my client from A to Z. What we were going to do, when we are going to do things, and how we are going to do things. Everything, from meetings to scheduled payments. What's in, and what's not. Because we clicked so well during the introduction, I tried to sell a retainer for 12 months, which isn't regular when you just start to work together. He agreed, and couldn't wait either to start.

Questionnaire

So first, we start with having a well thought out questionnaire. This doesn't only allow me to get to know the client better, but it also gives the opportunity to the client to know his business better as well. I was pretty surprised how fast and quick he had answers to all the questions. This gave me trust, as he knows exactly what course he wants to go. The questionnaire took about 4 hours, in two sessions.

Content Strategy

From all the answers I got from the questionnaire, I had enough information to think of a strategy perfect for Gallivant Brewery. It also gave me enough information to prioritize what the best next steps would be for them to move forward.

Shooting content

With everything, you got to have a strong foundation, especially if you want to build something strong on top of it. I suggested to take either high quality product photographs, or have detailed 3D render models of the bottles ready. We went for the first, so I was in my natural habitat when it comes down to product photography.

With the fundamentals done, I could show Gallivant what we could do with the product photographs.

Website development

One of the things I noticed, was that the website was not working completely. Which would be a shame if we were to make valuable content for Gallivant. I suggested to make a new website for them, and they agreed. It's so nice when a client trusts your quality and skills right off the bat. It gives me so much energy, motivation, and inspiration to work for them.

So, this is what I did in January for Gallivant. Well, not everything; I did some event photography for them, and started preparing on animations for February as well.

Hope you guys enjoyed, and learned a little bit about Social Media Content Marketing Retainers. Would be cool to do this for Hive as well, but I guess I would need to show some proof before I start a proposal ;).
