Confidence (self-confidence) is the most important trait one could have.

Why? Because, confidence means courage, action, and growth!

Confidence empowers you!

Confidence leads to courage and empowers action. When you have it you go and do the things you should be doing, you’ll go and approach new clients, you’ll go and have the tough conversation with your boss, you’ll do what’s necessary to be done. Confidence empowers you to take action knowing that whatever happens you’ll break through!

Confidence helps you helps you start things, overcome fears, and stretch your limits. Yes, this also implies that you’ll fail at some things, you’ll make a lot of mistakes, but all of those empower you to learn and experience growth. Think back on your life, when did you learn the most? When things went according to plan or when things went south ways and you had to change your plan and adjust what you were doing?

Think about how many times did you not asked a question in school or at work just because you didn’t want to look like a fool. Think about how many times did have an idea, but you were not sure if it’s a good one, so you decided to just forget about it? I did this so many times and if you are honest with yourself you have probably done it also. The point here, is that confidence also empowers you to ask questions and not be afraid to look like a fool!

Lack of confidence kills you!

The lack of confidence on the other hand leads to inaction, pondering, and procrastination. Who do you think will be better of? The man who ponders, tries to learn everything about doing the perfect push-up and never starts because there’s always more to learn to make it perfect, or the man who does 10 average push-ups every day, but learning and developing his form and strength with every day that passes?

Anxiety, negative stress, depression, procrastination, perfectionism, etc. - They are all created by your insecurities, by your lack of self-confidence.

Confidence is a skill and YOU can acquire it!

Look at what Mel Robbins’s says about confidence:

Confidence is not a personality trait. It is a skill that you can acquire because confidence is the ability to move from thought to action. Because when you are a confident person you believe enough in yourself and in your capabilities that you are willing to try. To me, confidence is not the assuredness that is going to work out, it is the willingness to try!

So the great lesson in here is that confidence is a skill and you can develop it.

Think about the people you surround yourself with everyday, are they instilling confidence in you or is it the other way around? You probably already know that those people have a tremendous influence about you. Even a newbie or a below-average entrepreneur will grow exponentially just by staying around successful and rich entrepreneurs. Try to surround yourself with the people that pump your confidence up and inspire you!

Now, think about yourself. Are you taking proactive steps to instill confidence in the ones you love, in your husband or wife, in your children, in your closest friends? Empower them, help and support them grow and you’ll grow with them.

And always, remind yourself of all the things that make you who you are today!

It all starts with your parents and the way you were raised.

I really think it all starts with our parents and the way we were raised. So you have two options, if you lack the confidence, your only way to success is to start developing it right now and surround yourself with the kind of people that empower you; the second option, means that you are lucky, you have that self-confidence and you should go to your parents and kiss them right now!

My parents never trusted themselves to do good in the world, so they could transfer me the confidence I needed. They were always like “You can’t do that”, “That’s too big to achieve and you are to small, to be so foolish” “Go for the safe path and easy path. You’ll be disappointed if you try something else and you’ll fail”, and so on and on. Don’t get me wrong, I love my parents but in order to leave that mindset behind and start building myself and my confidence from scratched I moved to another country at the age of 18.

I started to build my confidence which helped me start and pursue different new paths, and then I’ve gained some more confidence, and then even more, and that’s how I’ve got here at 22, having a small business that’s growing fast, adding value to the people around myself and inspiring them through my actions.

I did and you can do it too!

A final call to parents:

Please, if you are a parent, take the necessary steps to instill that confidence in your kids. You are their hero and your support means the most to them. You can make your kids confident and healthy human beings or you can crush their self-confidence and fill their life with insecurities. I know you want what’s best in the world for your kids, so please, make confidence the biggest gift you ever give them!

I’ll continue to write about confidence and success mindset because that’s my true belief that success is achieved first in your mind.
