Good day fellow Steemians, again, we will continue the book by Brian Adams, published in 1969, "How To Succeed" "Dynamic Mind Principles That Transform Your Life. Now, its about how to lengthen your lifespan. So, let's start now to determine how it is.
**HOW TO LENGTHEN YOUR LIFESPAN. Since man appeared on earth he has been the object of a biological process over which he has had absolutely no control - on the aging process. Many scientists now believe that the aging process - partly anyway - can be controlled. Science is attempting to find the elixir of life and perhaps one day it will. However, for now, it should be the goal of every individual to enhance the quality of his or her life by reducing the unpleasantness due to uncontrolled biological processes. You can prevent the unpleasantness of physical deterioration by changing your mental outlook. As an example, characteristic of aging is loss of weight. Therefore, your physical lifespan can be influenced by proper diet and exercise. You commence life with more brain cells than you use. To keep your mind alert, use your brain more. Don't be a lazy thinker. Keep your mind active. The more you use your brain throughout your early and middle years the better it will serve you late in life.
**THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND NEVER GROWS OLD. Your subconscious mind knows nothing of time and space, as it is one with the mind of God, which is Infinite. Old-age is a relative term. In terms of health, sick people are old and healthy people are young. There are old young people and young old people. Your real age determined by the way you think, feel and act. Age is the state of mind. You begin to deteriorate mentally and physically when you lose interest in the things that are important in life: meeting new friends, visiting new places and accepting new challenges. If you contemplate retiring from business don't let your mind and body deteriorate - stay active mentally and physically. Give attention to new ideas. Set your sights on new accomplishments. Take an active interest in things beyond yourself and your mind and body will reflect this in health, happiness and youthfulness.
**YOU ARE AS YOUNG AS YOU THINK. Many people are under the impressions that the aging process commences around the early fifties and thereafter the mind and body deteriorate until finally senility takes over. This, of course, is not the case - far from it. Gerontologists (those who studies the aging process), point out that aging carries out its independent process throughout the life of an individual, not just during the late years. Efficiency of nerve fibers that connect with muscles is just as good at seventy as at thirty. Therefore, we should not look upon our senior years with apprehension and fear. Age is in the mind; the body reacts accordingly. To think young and to act young is to be young. Loss of energy, aching joints, mental deterioration can be avoided in your late years by learning early in life: as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.
**FOLLOW CARY GRANT'S ADVICE. When I first met Cary Grant, I was astounded at the youthfulness of this film idol. In terms of calendar age he is well past sixty, yet, he presents a picture of a man in his forties. Grant keeps in excellent physical condition not only by regular exercise but by thinking young. Asked by a magazine editor how he managed to stay so healthy and trim year after year, Grant replied, 'I think thin'. Follow Cary Grant's think suggestion to bring order, harmony, health and balance into your own life. THINK ENERGY. THINK HEALTH. THINK PROSPERITY. THINK LIFE ON A GRAND SCALE. THINK YOUNG.
**LATE STARTER WHO SUCCEEDED - AND SO CAN YOU. You have something worthwhile to contribute to this life regardless of past failure or present age. Almost half of the top eecutives in any country are between the ages of fifty five and ninety. The top echelon of government, education, religion and science is beyond middle age. Many geniuses were well past thirty before getting started. Albert Einstein, for example, was in his thirties before his mathematical genius was recognized. Grandma Moses was a late contributor to the art world; she begun painting at the age of eighty. At the same age, Socrates, the Greek philosopher, learned to play various musical instruments. Michael Angelo was painting masterpiece at the age of eighty. George Bernard Shaw wrote plays at the age ninety. Robert Frost continued to write poetry until his death in 1963 - he was eighty nine. Henry Ford maintained: 'You take all the experience and judgement of men over fifty out of the world and there wouldn't be enough left to run it.'
