We all have that dream of being successful, we become intimidated by the likes of Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and so many others who have the power to buy some countries and even continents if they deem fit but then again, is success only defined by money?
How is success truly defined
Mr Taiwo Akinkunmi who designed our national flag, the green and white colored flag, symbolizing agriculture and peace, our proof of country, sign of independence, lived in poor conditions but gave us one of our richest and most successful insignia ever.
He made history books as a SUCCESSful man, yet he was poor until some people helped him. I began to ponder if success was tied to money. We created this mentality that success equals money and money equals success but is that true? Can we say categorically that it is true?
If success equals money, why do some people become "unsuccessful" after first being successful when it is all about money?
Success for the rich investor was never, has never and will never be about money. It is tied to value. Further proof can be derived from certain instances like a real estate kind of person who deals with acquisition primarily and has to select the best land and materials for building, the person focuses more on acquiring things rather than acquiring money. To such a person, his money is actually his acquisition such as land and buildings which has to be good enough before profit comes.
A successful investor has one thing in mind, the next best thing to spend money on, the person is less concerned about how much is left in the bank because the person keeps in kind that the banking system could fail and more so the banking system won't provide enough profit as an investment will and so the logical option will be to use money to find money, meaning investing to get more. The aim is getting the right investment first before the thoughts of money multiplication comes in.
Warren Buffet is known as a successful investor first of all but some do not know that his billions are not kept as raw cash, rather a vast percentage of it is kept as investments scattered around the globe. Does that mean he is unsuccessful because he doesn't have billions in his bank account, but rather, in his investments?
Like I said, success is subjective and we have to define it, but only according to the right definition. Money can be considered as success but then that means a person with a thousand dollars and someone with a million dollars are in the same successful shoe right?
Success comes not from money but value generated around us. Value can be investments, businesses or other forms.
Success comes one day at a time, don't rush it..Define it first of all

Everyone has is own definition of success. To me I'll say success is all about attaining certain values and contributions to humanity also achieving ones predicted/future goals. Each to everyman his own definition. Great post

Success is relative;
To some countries, having constant power supply is success while to some, its having a sure retirement benefits and to some students, its to have success in their college exams while its different for some others.
The hurdle to cross is always different but there is something that remains constant; Fulfilment attained from a task.

I wont say i am successful yet until i am able to impact lots of life everywhere i go. Being successful does not mean being rich and wealthy but they are the benefits that moves along with success...it is wonderful explaining and telling us what success is. I hope to read more tips on how to become successful here.
If I understand what you saying it means success to you is when one has investments? Going by this definition it means successful people are those who have physical properties to show for it . Does that now mean poor people are not successful? Success is ambiguous. A poor person can also be a successful person. To me success means happiness, fulfilment from achieving a goal. Yeah, that is absolutely true. Rushing won't get someone any far in life. However I think most people lacks patience and that is the reason they look for shortcuts
Fast money quick success can kills most times. Everyone is in the hustle to be rich but surely, not everyone has patience as virtue. It pays to be successful but then again one needs to direct his focus right so as to achieve it the rightful way. Thanks for this thought provoking piece @ehiboss
Successful truely does not happen overnight.
It's a gradual process, it take optimism, perseverance, diligence and continuous and unrelenting effort to achieve and reach the peak on ones goal.

Very true, i always say it to people that success is not measured by the amount of money a person has but about the amount of happiness the person is able to create around him... The smiles on other People's faces.
Nonetheless, there is need to secure the future in terms of investment like you rightly stated. Nobody wants his finances to drain, and the best way is to use the resources you have to make more.
As Nigerians would say;
Of a truth succes does not happen overnight.
It takes diligence, hard work, commitment, perseverance, unrelenting effort and optimism to reach the peak of our goal.

Success is not only determined by the weight of our bank accounts, though it could be part of it, but also by the impactful lives we have lived. Being able to do something for posterity is what truly truly defines success. I know of lots of millionaires who died in misery simply because they lived for themselves alone. So true success is how much of others rather than of yourself. Thank you for another inspiring post Ehis 👍

Well to me success means acheivment of desired visions and planned goals all rounder,for one to be succesful,he or she must be able to fill every vaccum leaving none empty success is one thing,and the ability to remain succesful is another thing,for you to be succesful you must be able to take something while replacing it back with another thing,i mean you must be able to invest and not just spend money

Wonderful and patience teaching post, a lot of people as a matter of fact has threw away the importance of creating value in the world success, they simple perch on the shoulder of the already successful people waiting to be pushed into cheap success, i think i learnt a lot at Abuja mega steemit meetup, when you( @ehiboss) talked about creating value or your niche in the platform, at that moment I changed my thinking, thank for this my boss.

We all have our own definition of success no doubt. Mine is simply discovering yourself and doing what you love. Anything outside that is no success, it's simply duty.
Like Zizymena said, success is very ambiguous and subjective.
I think what you did here is concentrating on the "Creating Value" aspect of success.
I can then infer from your post that if you claim to be successful(either via amassing money, savings, etc) but not providing or creating value, it is safe to say you are not in the real sense successful.
An opinion i perfectly agree with.
Everybody wants success just the way I've been yearning to be successful on this platform.

In my own dictionary, success is the positive change you created for other minds to benefit from...
Sucess is the legacy you leave in people...
For example, i dont view Bill Gates as a successful man from his billion dollars' perspective, i view him from his charity perspective because Bill Gates has helped the helpless get help through charity...

8 out of 10 people will say success equals your net worth. And i won't disagree with them because success is subjective like you said earlier. Let every man define success in his own language or terms and if such definition brings fulfillment and happiness then truly he is successful. @eurogee

Success is a lot. Success is how many lives you've transformed positively. Success is how long it will take you to recover from a big shock if you eventually face one. Success is subjective though but the truth is that success should never be measured by amount of money one has alone.
