I read an article today on Yahoo! News today about New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski (better known as "Gronk"). It shared how in 2014 he acted on a tip from his contractor and bought $69,000 worth of Apple stock (AAPL), then forgot about it until he noticed it had grown to almost 10X in value.
I like reading articles on Yahoo, as many times they republish pieces that would normally be behind a paywall, due to their relationship with these publishers. It's one of the ways that I leverage knowledge the same way that "Gronk" did with his 69K.
Why pay "WaPo" for example, if I can get the article for free on Yahoo?
They get the monetized ad traffic, which I'm sure they share with the publisher and I get the content I'm interested in. It's a win-win for everybody. So THAT'S why I'm still using Yahoo years after they supposedly fell out of favor.
It's what you know.
Alexvan just celebrated his 8th anniversary on what is now Hive. But what did he do in the early days? He made a calculated investment in the platform, and himself. I couldn't be happier for him and the others who saw the potential of our little corner of the blockchain early on.
Leverage
Apple is an amazing company and one that I'd never bet against. The entire tech industry copies almost everything that they do. The Asian tech companies pore over the details of every new product that Apple releases, as they lack their own home-grown innovation, and it's just easier to copy Apple's years of research instead of coming up with innovations of their own.
They're using a type of leverage of their own to get ahead in the technology space.
I leverage my content on Hive as well...
The other day I was showing someone my hive account and how easy it is to sign up and start publishing. They commented on the low amount that my posts bring in, and I countered that a lot of things come into play when it comes to support, and stake (or lack thereof in my case), is also important.
PLUS, even if a post makes "only" a penny, that's one penny more than you went to bed with, right?. And I believe that even a small amount of HIVE today, has the possibility for explosive growth down the line (just like the AAPL stock mentioned in the article did when Gronk benefited from the several stock splits that Apple offered to its savvy investors).
So like AAPL, I picture the FUTURE value of HIVE in the present.
That's why I continue to blog on Hive, as I believe in this community. It's also why I power up each post 100%, including this one. More leverage.
Leveraging my Content
I also leverage my content on Hive in another way. No matter what the number says at the bottom of the post, I benefit simply by writing each one. The more you write, the better you get, and that's true on the many platforms that I generate content for. My grandmother taught me as a boy to never put all of your eggs in one basket, and Hive is not the only place that I write for.
My Hive content is leveraged on other spaces as well, and as I become a better writer here, it pollinates the content that I create elsewhere.
Take my last post, for instance. It earned what, $0.59 in HIVE of which I'll get half or about 30 cents. It received zero comments, but that's OK, as I'm able to morph that into content that regularly renumerates me anywhere from dozens to hundreds of dollars elsewhere for each piece that I write.
So I'm good.
And as the very sassy Mae West one said:
“When I'm good, I'm very good, but when I'm bad, I'm better.”
That's one smart lady.
She was an absolute trip, and way ahead of her time. West died in 1980, but I can only imagine the one-liners she'd share on social media today. She was also no dumb blonde either, and wisely leveraged her movie star money into savvy investments in California real estate.
Instead of fretting over how much engagement your post had or few upvotes you got, realize that there's always a silver lining in every cloud. I have dozens and dozens of unpublished evergreen "work posts" that inform and inspire my writing.
There's ALWAYS a positive angle somewhere, you just have to have the vision to see it. So just like Gronk did with his 69K, Get off your ASSets, dream big, and take action. Leverage is the key.
Thanks for checking it out. :)
You're welcome
