Sugar is the common name for class related to sweetener chemicals, which are mostly used for food. They are carbohydrates, it consists of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Artificial sweeteners are a substitute for sugar produce through chemical process. Artificial sweeteners are consider to have a higher sweet taste than ordinary sweeteners or sugar.
starting from the many diseases that arise due to access sugar intake, artificial sweeteners are made as an alternative to sugar. Although it contains smaller calories, but this artificial sweetener also has the potential to cause adverse effects on health, especially if consumed in excess.

- Saccharin
The sweetness produced by saccharin reaches 300-400 times stronger than sugar. The use of saccharin in one serving for processed foods should not exceed 30 mg. As for drinks, it should not be more than 4 mg / 10 ml of liquid.
- Sucralose
Sucralose is produced from sucrose which has a sweet taste 600 times stronger than sugar. This ingredient is commonly used in baked or fried food products. The ideal daily consumption of sucralose is as much as 5 mg /kg of body weight.
- Acesulfame potassium
This material is very stable in high temperatures and easily soluble, making it suitable for use in many food products. The recommended daily consumption limit for acesulfame potassium is 15 mg/kg of body weight.
- Neotam
This artificial sweetener is widely used in low-calorie foods. Chemically, it is almost the same as aspartame, but it tastes 40 times sweeter than aspartame. Compared with refined sugar, the sweetness rate of neotam is up to 8,000 times higher. Neotam can be consumed up to 18mg/kg of body weight in a day.
