I would love to see the $ symbol associated with upvoting replaced by a steem symbol. Everybody is going to understand in short order they can be paid for their contributions or make an income from it. Replacing it with a steem symbol doesn't change the value people will see when they are crypto inclined, but would act as a badge or achievement to those who genuinely just love to post casual.

I agree. The $ symbol is too US-centric, not a bad thing I love the US,but for a worldwide movement like STEEM the symbol should reflect that.
Being from the US I hadn't even considered that aspect of it. Another great reason to consider replacing it. The steem symbol really would break down those borders and provide a similar level of meaning to everyone
I agree, I was put off by this when I first visited Steemit and it made me hesitant to participate at first. It's fairly obvious to everyone that rewards are available for posting and curating quality content, but attaching a dollar sign to everything makes it seem a bit scammy imo.
That was my thought too. Additionally I found myself reading quality posts and being unable to be impartial to it
