Hi guys,
I wanted to make a special column on my page about the topic 'Superfoods'. So every blogpost which says 'Superfoods' on front of it, will be a full review about the superfood I'm discussing with you. So, let's get started!
Have you ever heard about Spirulina before? Some people think it sounds like an STD, but I can secure you that it is a lot more healthy for you. Probably you picked up someone talking about it somewhere, but what is it? Why is this algae so healthy en what is the story about it? Let's dive into the story of Spirulina!
Spirulina is one of the oldest and richest sources of vitamins and minerals that is known by our globe. It is called by its spiral form. Spirulina has been used for thousands of years. It is known that the Maya’s in Mexico already used Spirulina and has been mined at Lake Chad.
This algae is very popular in Japan and other eastern countries for ages now. But they are step by step taking over the rest of the world because of their health benefits. A teaspoon everyday will give you a boost for the day. I recommend you to mix it into your smoothie with many sweet fruits because it doesn't taste like sweet honey. It’s still an algae.
Let’s dive into the health benefits! Some people believe that these alga are a supplement because of the content on vitamins and minerals. Take a look at this list for example:
100 grammes of spirulina contains:
Vitamin: Recommended daily allowance(%)

B1 (207%)
B2 (306%)
B3 (85%)
B5 (70%)
B6 (28%)
B9 (24%)
C (12%)
E (33%)
K (24%)
Besides that, Spirulina is a major source of proteins. 35% of spirulina is protein. So if you visit the gym you will have energy-wise and muscle-wise a lot of benefits on spirulina!
You probably heard of the water that you drink out of your own tap in your kitchen. Is leaded to your kitchen threw pipelines that are metal-made. The water is always carrying some toxic metals with it. Spirulina is known to clean your body from toxic metals. Besides that, Spirulina is a great source of anti-oxidants.
I already told you that spirulina is also a great source of minerals, but what minerals is it good for? Take a look at this list:
Mineral amount per 100g
