RE: Appreciate your upvoters

in #support7 years ago

I'm on day 17 here at Steemit and have had some random questions about upvoting, if you don't mind my asking...Thanks @fun2learn. Good points.

  • And yes, I did not understand the whole vote power deal, being trained by Facebook to like (in my mind this was equivalent to upvote, but it IS vastly different...) posts I liked, thought were funny, or just to let a friend know I read their post...

Anyway, You don't have to answer me directly here, since I've started following you, as I have tried to do with the cream of the crop I've ran across here so far...

  • If you've already answered these, I will probably find them when I have time to study your posts...
  1. What's the best way to let someone know you read and liked the post without upvoting? (Like this post... I'm trying to build back my vote power, so won't vote on this one, but do foresee upvoting your posts in the future...)
    a) Just a quick, simple comment?

  2. re: only voting a percentage of your vote power...
It will likely be awhile before my vote is even worth 1 penny, and even longer before I will even need to consider this, but I am curious...
    a) Do people decide what they think their vote should be worth?
Or said another way, they decide what they think the post or comment is worth.
And then adjust their vote % to match their conclusion?
    b) Does a % vote, still cost about 2% vote power?
    Example: Can I make 4 x 25% votes for 2%.
    c) I don't know what I don't know, so do you have any recommendations for when we reach to point it is a concern?

Since, I can't upvote you would you please accept this trophy of my gratitude for finding my new mentor of the day?

🏆 awarded to @fun2learn for learning and sharing what was learned!

  • If you have read someone's article, all author really appreciates an upvote even if it is low in percentage. Commenting when you can't upvote is one of the ways to indicate that you read the post but it is better not to just make a passing remark as most authors don't like that.
  • The percentage of voting really depends on you. Since you are new and don't get a slider, you are unable to adjust the percentage of voting. Voting will be 100% which is 2% of your overall voting power.
  • I am using esteem which is a mobile app to decide the percentage of voting since I don't have a slider until I reach 500 steem power. You can choose your percentage of voting under setting in esteem. Esteem is created by one of the steem witnesses available in playstore for download. Remember to only use your posting key for security reasons.
  • There are also chainbb and busy that you may consider but I am not using to access steemit. If my memory does not fail, there is slider there too.

There are many good youtubes to answer many questions about steemit. I found them on youtube and now we have dtube to answer some of our questions. You can also easily find answers on steemit articles here.

Thanks for the info!

  • I hadn't even thought of searching on YouTube!
  • yes, I have been reading many many articles.
    • all the info can be a bit overwhelming for a newbie...
  • yes I use esteem.
    • no, I didn't realize there was a setting there for that...
  • Good to know about the other sites.
I've looked at them, but not really used them...
