Abbas Nalbandian: The Dark Knight of Iranian Playwriting

Abbas Nalbandian, a playwright who shattered the boundaries of reality and imagination, remains one of the most enigmatic figures in Iranian theater. I have tried many times to find him, to understand him, but all that remains are traces of him in words and memories. In 1989, he took his own life—but in my view, his true death occurred in 1979, the year of a revolution that silenced many artists of his generation.
