After a night with little sleep the third day started at 7 in the morning. I felt energized, maybe because of the amount of sunlight, it never got dark. In the night we arrived in Kongsfjorden. After breakfast we went out again in the zodiacs. Cruising around the Fourteenth of July Bay, named after the French national day by Albert the First of Monaco on his 1906 expedtions to this area.
The weather was great, nice and sunny with a slight breeze, 8 degrees celsius.
We came across nesting Glaucious Gull, Kittiwake, Brunnich's Guillemont and Puffin. Moving along the coast we approached the overwhelming glacier wall of the 14th of July Glacier.
The sun was bright and we were sheltered from the wind. But we were not the only ones enjoying this breathtaking spot.
A bit of sunbathing.
And of we went cruising further to our next stop. We went on shore to strech our legs for an hour.
We watched nesting birds, plants and flowers. Always making sure not to leave any garbage and taking care of every step on the ground. Things are easily disturbed.
This was the first trip of the day, we went back to the ship for some food and beverage and to get ready for our second trip, Ny-Alesund, the most northern settlement on earth!
