Magandang buhay!
Last time, I mentioned buying some cold delights from the street peddler and putting them in the freezer. Well, I had forgotten all about them until mid-day yesterday when I was outside taking my dose of vitamin E just before 2 pm. It was a perfect time to enjoy the frozen treats so I took them out, letting the hubby choose which he preferred.
He got the coconut popsicle so I was left with the choco ice drop (I said "choco" because there was no trace of Pinipig in it when indicated on its packaging). With it, the popsicle would be crunchy. We used to enjoy a similar treat (but studded with toasted crispy pinipig) in the '90s when we were kids, especially when there was a party in the neighborhood and peddlers would come carrying their ice boxes loaded with different treats. Aah, some nostalgia!
Well, the trade continues today, with peddlers going around the streets and even along farmlands offering not only frozen delights but also sweet snacks (mostly fried, glutinous ones) and kitchen goods (i.e. smoked sausages, fish, ham, etc). They're a walking market as the farmboy puts it. It's hard labor because while others come on motorbikes, most are on foot, carrying heavy loads on both shoulders. But they must be happy when they go home with their boxes empty.
Meanwhile, the coconut pops(known locally as ice buko) had generous grated young coconut in it. Tastier too!
The hubby almost finished it when I asked for a switch. That was my initial intention anyway so I made him choose, LOL! He happily obliged and continued eating the ice drop. I barely managed to eat 1/4 of it because the choco tasted bitter. Not what my tastebuds wanted for a sweet delight.
Anyway, after enjoying the last portion of the treat, I took my Lil Guy for a wee walk. He wore his new suspender boots and walked on them quite comfortably, unlike his previous shoes where his legs were going sideways whenever he took a step forward, lol!
We had a fun day and today shouldn't be any different, except we won't be having cold treats🤠 Spaghetti maybe? Hmmmm...

Speaking of cold treats, I got myself some yesterday after a very stressful day and the feeling was unmatched. That cold treat was just what I needed at that point.

Chocolate, ice cream, ice pops and called sweets for this reason. They instantly shift our moods and days for the better.
I miss the Pinipig ice cream yhat was sold on the street. 5 pesos lang yon before no. Ngayon wala na akong nakikitang ganyan here, kakamiss ay. But I'm curious with that buko popsicle, ang daming buko. Anong brand nyannmm 🤤
