Hello everyone :-)
Today I want to show you how to make very tasty cookies which are called "mailäderli ". They are traditional swiss cookies (18th century) which almost everyone in switzerland eats while december / christmas. Bake the cookies for your relatives and you and have a nice time together. It is worth it :)
The recipe is very simple but the result is amazing, believe me!
The Ingredients for 80 cookies:
500g / 18 ounces flour
225g / 8 ounces sugar
250g / 9 ounces butter
3 eggs
1 pinch of salt
1 lemon
1 yellow of an egg
The preparation:
- Stir the butter in a bowl until it is nice and smooth.
- Add sugar, salt and the 3 eggs and stir it untilthe ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Grind the skin of the lemon and add it to the mixture of the previous step.
- Add theflour, knead to a soft dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for about 2 hours in a cool place (frigde).
- Cut the dough in parts and roll it out on a flat, with flour covered surface, approximately 5 mm (0.2 inches) thick.
- Put out different shapes and put them on a baking sheet covered with baking paper.
- Let it cool for about 15 minutes.
- Before baking you can now add yellow of an egg on the surface of the cookies.
- Bake the cookies for about 10 minutes in the center of the pre-heated oven at 200 °C (392 °F).
- Let cool them down completely before serving.
Now you have a wonderfull suprise for your friends & family. Let me know in the comments if it tasted you and if you would like to know another swiss cookies recipe (there are a few more and all of them are really good).
