The history of swords - Introduction

in #sword6 years ago

Fellow Steemians,
This is the first part of a series of posts about swords and their history.
The first part is mainly an quick i tro into the topic. The next posts will go deeper into the matter.
So without further ado, let's hop into it!

There are actually many myth about swords and most of the common knowledge is actually wrong. For example were swords neither the most common weapon throughout history, nor the most effective one.
Many sword were plainly for decorational and ceremonial usage, because they were way to valuable to use the in real combat. Here are some examples for such swords:

Next time I'll talk more (and way more in detail) about the beginnings of swords, especially about bronze age swords.

Hope you join my journey through time!
