he Syrian army and its allied forces have started an intense fight with IS militants in the area on Saturday, Reuters reported.
A Reuters interviewer, a group of Syrian war observers, and the country's state television have reported intense fighting. Light guns are also being used as a combination of massive ammunition in the fight.
The army has made big progress in the fight, state television said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based observer organization, said the Syrian forces took control of some buildings in the densely populated area.
Among the IS-controlled areas, there are parts of Al-Kadam district, Al-Hazrat al-Aswad and Palestinian refugee camp Yarmouk.
The footage broadcast on state television showed that the tank of government forces is moving ahead with an open area on the edge of the IS-controlled area; Unarmed soldiers are moving forward on the damaged road, thick clouds of dark smoke on their heads.
The sound of flying rounds and shells exploded around, continuous shooting of a light weapon and the sound of a heavy explosion was echoing.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after meeting with Turkey and Iran's Foreign Minister in Moscow on Saturday, the country's government needs to help these three countries to liberate Syria.
On the other hand, Turkish Foreign Minister Mavlut Kawhogoglu, commenting on the need to work with Russia, Iran and Turkey with the United Nations for legitimate political solutions, because of any possibility of any military solution to Syria being illegal and destabilizing.
