Beach Day Class (Taijiquan)

I enjoyed being beneath the fog. I enjoyed watching Teacher walk down to the water's edge to do his ritual. As the ocean waves crashed against the shore with him in the water, I had the a thought of how small he looks next to the ocean. And, yet, there was this connection between him and this vast body of water. Walking back towards the group, four crows came up behind him. Crows by the water's edge is a rare sight to see. They were scavenging for food.

Now the fog was covering us, I and others who were there on time. 😘 We waited to start class. Well, I'm not going to let this opportunity pass. I close in on Teach. I grab his arm. I'm attempting to force him into an unfavorable position for him by using my strength. His arm feels heavy and unmoveable. Fine - I'll be soft and see what happens. Oh! He has my wrist in a lock, and I have no choice but to kiss the sand. Once he did the brush knee and push movement excluding the brushing of the knee. I thought, "I'm going to get him to do that again." Did not happen. He changed! I was sitting in the sand again.

The class is now in the water doing form. If you look at the posted picture above, do you see where the water converges from all sides? He put me there. At first the push and pull was really weak. After Teach gave instructions to the rest of the class on what they should be doing, he came into the water with me. The push and pull of the waves began at that moment. We are working with this thought of non-descrimination. So, I'm not as focused on what the wave is going to do to me as it pushes or pulls, and I'm not focusing on the floor shifting beneath my feet. I'm supposed to sink into the earth anyways. I begin to see the wooden room I practice in from time to time; I see myself practicing in the dirt on top of the hill I sleep on; I see the goofers removing the grass beneath my feet. 😂

As I finished the form, I waited for him to do the same. I came up from behind. This time I'm going for his leg. I have the pull of the ocean helping me; this should be simple. He gives me nothing to hang onto. He is rooted, sinking into the earth. I am being carried away by the pull of the ocean and the top layers of sand. Amazing!

If you live in or are going to visit LA, Culver city area, you may come join us for class. (We are not always at the beach.) To find out more information, go to the facebook page - ‎Khemetic Aha and Sema Association
