Quick Walk in Taiwan

in #taiwan7 years ago

Hello fellow Steemians!!!! It has been a while since my last updates! Oh my goodness! I was drowned with all the workload and now squeeze a bit of time to give my recent updates.

Me and my friends went to Taiwan to attend another long old buddy's garden wedding. It was held in Pingtung, a province city in south of Taiwan. Our trip was a short yet fruitful one! Will definitely pay another visit to Taiwan again next time. March is definitely a good time to visit Taiwan. The weather is lovely to me because it is cooling and even though it is at noon, you will not feel the heat! That's how amazing the weather is.IMG_2767.jpg (Some motorcycles parked in front of residential of Kaohsiung)

This was my first time to Taiwan and amazingly, we stepped almost half of Taiwan in 5 days! Of course, a lot of friends will tell that we would not have enough time to explore. Hey! Taiwan is worth another visit! This 5 day trip is just an overview! Anyway, we started our trip by taking high speed rail from Taoyuan to Taichung. Our first destination was to Monster Village at Xitou. The village is situated at a highland area of Xitou, about 1 and half hour from Taichung. The weather was cooling and we checked in a homestay nearby the Monster Village. The village is a theme village where you will see a lot of Monsters and weird stuff around. The buildings and structures are more like Japanese one as Taiwan was once administered by Japanese few decades ago. IMG_2486.jpg (Interesting structures inside the Monster Village)

After grabbing some foodie, we continued our walk to the forest park. My friend in the gang, told us that we were getting older and the trip itself is also like old people trip. We all wanted to get away from the crowds! The forest park was packed with fir trees and bamboos. Not packed with tourists as that time was not peak season, as what I was informed by the locals. Nevertheless, the environment was great and we all enjoyed the walk! Imagine that I was in a rush for the meeting in Kota Kinabalu, suddenly appeared in the forest, taking deep breath at this fresh air! Relax is the only word in my mind!

That concludes my first day in Taiwan. We continued our journey to the second largest city in Taiwan, Kaohsiung. Situated at the south of Taiwan, Kaohsiung has a deep port where the large container ships will cruise into the port at the city centre. The river mouth has big breakwaters to avoid coastal erosion. A lighthouse stands high at the cliff, as if a guardian of the city for centuries. We were guided by our friend in Kaohsiung. She brought us to interesting places in the city. One of them caught my attention and this place marked deeply in my memory. This building sits on top of the cliff where it served as a fortress and government house during the early days of Takow (Former name of Kaohsiung). The sunset was lovely! It really blew my mind away. Though was a short trip, Kaohsiung lives in my mind. It offers something that Taipei wouldn't have.

The next day we went to Pingtung, where my friend's garden wedding was. We spent our time wisely in Pingtung with our friends. It was a great moment when everyone did not meet each other for so long and had a long chatting session. What a great bonding session. No matter where we are, we surely will have the similar topic to discuss and share about! That's true friendship!IMG_3364.JPG

Of course, you are not in Taiwan if you never step to Taipei 101! I spent my last day in Taipei but half of the day struggling with diarrhea. Sorry to miss the fun but for sure, will have another great time in Taiwan!

Just that, I don't know when will it be! Oh well, time to work and look forward to that eh?!
