Twisted Tarot: How many ounces in a cup?

in #tarot3 years ago

This is the first installment of my weekly Twisted Tarot series, where I answer the questions you guys leave in my comment section with Tarot cards. Though I'm well aware of the Forer Effect, I've been working with these cards for years, and thought it a shame to let that experience go to waste. I've decided to use them as a source of amusement, and answer the tough questions.

If you'd like to have a question answered, leave it in the comments below.

There are a couple of rules though:

  • No personal questions
  • This is for entertainment only!

On to today's question. . .

How many ounces are in a cup?

This being my first post in the series, I had no previous questions to work with. So, like everyone looking for information, I turned to Google. One of the top questions asked on Google just happens to be, how many ounces are in a cup?

For those of you who are unaware, the US is in the process of transitioning to the metric system. Metric is a base-1000 system, where 1000 units takes one up a level on the measuring scale, and 1/1000 of a unit takes one down a level. The US already uses metric in the academic, engineering, and medical fields. But the general population refuses to adapt. Most US citizens, myself included, prefer the use of US customary units. It's what I grew up with.

Because of all this, schools have stopped teaching US customary units, leaving countless people clueless when it comes to activities such as baking.

I thought we could finally lay this question to rest by consulting our spirit guide, the Tarot deck (or in my case, the Tarot computer program).

Hesitant about the best spread to use, I finally settled on drawing a single card, the 6 of Swords, reversed. I took this to mean 6 oz, and drew another hoping I could add the two together -- I know there are 8 oz in a cup. That's when the Page of Wands, reversed came up.

After feeling guilty for abandoning my originally planned spread, I redid the reading with a single card. Out of 78 possible outcomes, the 6 of Swords returned.

It's official!

Result: 1 cup is 6 oz (even though it isn't).
