Hi! I am a content-detection robot. I found similar content by the same author:
https://steemit.com/taskmanager/@taskmanager/the-nightly-task-manager-12-02-2016-steemit-posts-that-pay-you
@cheetah is there any way to whitelist @taskmanager? He's been a respectable member of the community. :) It doesn't hurt to ask, right?
It seems it does hurt to ask if you try and ask the person who runs it. Please make sure to Flag the cheeath bot comments. The person who is running it is in the comments here https://steemit.com/games/@jacobtothe/magic-the-gathering-commander-deck-overview-6 ignoring ways to try and fix this, sources are being linked and it is still going through. If anyone checks the @cheetah bot's comments, it is falsely hitting a lot of posts and I am not sure if the person running it is taking kindly to criticism or making people jump into a chat room to discuss it.
Ugh Thanks for the linkback to my previous work. Ur a super champ @cheetah here to sour my cornflakes milk
lol
lol, oh this is getting tiresome to good Steemit suers.
While I can't vouch for @anyx or @cheetah one way or another why are you advising people to flag a post which simply states that the content can be found elsewhere on the internet? It's not accusatory in nature. Unless there's further follow up I haven't seen @anyx flag unless it's a pretty clear cut case of plagiarism. All of that after a fair warning to boot.
So if there's abuse please flag and advise flags. I see no abuse here.
Hi @dgiors, I'm replying to your other post here because it is too low on the comment tree where I can't reply to the other one. I am on Steemit as a blogger where I can message people on this platform just fine, so it feels forced when I am asked to join a chat room to talk in a non-Steemit blog place about Steemit related functions, I rather comment here where his and my words our on a public ledger and other Steemit non-chat users, just Steemit bloggers can join in on the discussion about a bot that is effecting Steemit blogs, not Steemit chat. So I thank you so much for giving a full reply here.
And thank you for replying in a respectful manner. The comment tree from this https://steemit.com/games/@jacobtothe/magic-the-gathering-commander-deck-overview-6 left me feeling bad for the user @jacobtothe who I am surprised that someone who is having a bot running on Steemit acts to users the way he does, it really takes two seconds to try to understand another point of view.
With that, I had asked him politely on his own posts. Please see two months ago where I have been asking @anyx directly in comments here https://steemit.com/witness-category/@anyx/anyx-cheetah-and-steemcleaners-witness-update-14-10-2016 . This was not the first or last time I got my posts ignored. At this point after seeing other users very much also have a negative thought on the @cheetah bot, such as this person https://steemit.com/cheetah/@lifeworship/cheetah-does-more-harm-than-good-x-5
I had at first tried to just see what is the requirements for a white list, after being ignored multiple times. You are now stating in your post itself the bot was in fact started with the purpose of calling out "possible plagiarism", which is the same thing I have said, and the name which as been there since this was the case, does in fact have an implication with that name "cheetah". I have said nothing but this bot has a good purpose, but right now it is commenting on good posts. I see comments having value, and obviously the site does as well as comments can be upvoted too. So just because a "bot" is not flagging a post by your definition, it is still leaving a non positive connotation on users posts. Sometimes it works it's job good, but right now this is just like a cop that sometimes does good, but once in a while it plants illegal evidence on good citizens. I have asked to either rename this robot policeman or decommission it until it is better. Most of all, I had asked to be on a white list, but the way @anyx ignores posts, I really do not see that as a real future.
I appreciate you replying @dgiors, it is just very weird to me and makes me believe there is possibly negative intentions with the bot if the person who is running it cannot be civil.
This bot has the ability to turn people away from the site who are both users of it and people just viewing our blogs, I ask you to at the very least just look at this last sentence and think about it and if you are able to approach @anyx and he listens to you, I am not sure how people are able to reach him.
We can disagree with each other than the @cheetah name has any negative implication, but it is not up to our individual judgments, and so you can see other users who also do have an issue with the name. Basically a lot of commentary and requests to @anyx is either getting ignored or replied to in a harsh manner. This has been my only view of anything cheetah related up until your more thoughtful reply. Please no insults in an online discussion is all one can ask for, and being demeaning to others is something I consider insulting and unnecessary, lets solve issues together! Thank you again for your polite post, I look forward to your reply.
I don't have too much more to say on the matter. We seem to disagree on many points which don't need reiterated.
I've seen @anyx reply positively to people's requests as well as with snark. Think it depends how you ask. That said when you asked nicely you didn't get a reply at all. I'm not going to try to guess what happened there.
I find utility in seeing @cheetah identify content detected elsewhere. I don't assume plagiarism off the bat as it's easy to check if the poster attributed it and it's often not real hard to spot if the poster is the original author of off-site materials. Could always ask for a verification post if in doubt. Hopefully most out there don't assume the worst.
Sometimes it provides solid evidence of plagiarism and it's helpful to know that as well.
Also since @cheetah provides off-site linkbacks to your sales page isn't that helpful to you personally? It should help your Google ranking at least.
Lastly I appreciate your kind words and level-headed response. Good luck to you.
If it was not accusatory in nature, it would have another name than "Cheetah" which is indicating a user is "cheating" or plagiarizing in some way. There is some kind of denial going on if one does not see the connection or the negative connotation of a robot named "cheetah" that is commenting on posts it feels are copying content.
It is making Steemit look bad by having a great rich network of actual users who are already run through with bots, then a bot comes through and marks a good post. Now when users comment responding to a robot, people are just reading posts and comments confused, but definitely sure of one thing, a person probably copied content. Unfortunately that isn't true, and in fact I see people linking sources and the bot pings them still. Look at these posts, not mine, and the users getting hit:
https://steemit.com/recipe/@liquidsolomon/question-what-happens-if-you-follow-a-food-network-recipe-to-the-letter-answer-kierstin-ends-up-drinking-wine-out-of-a-boot
In this post, @anyx actually responded but then called the user "fickle" for bringing these things up https://steemit.com/curation/@screenname/the-daily-tribune-most-undervalued-posts-of-dec-03---part-ii
https://steemit.com/crypto-news/@randyclemens/new-neocash-radio-ep185-credit-cards-chip-away-security-italy-rocks-the-eurozone-boat-amazon-s-automated-future
Here is a post of my own, I cite the sources ON TOP OF I am getting NO payment for the post, it is just a link with a synopsis, and it gets hit too https://steemit.com/newslinks/@cryplectibles/newslink-comics-store-worker-helps-troubled-queer-teen-with-beautiful-act-of-kindness
Finally, look at a post from another user who has been complaining about these issues for a while now https://steemit.com/cheetah/@lifeworship/cheetah-does-more-harm-than-good-x-5
I have said nothing but the bot is a good idea, that is just currently broken and doing more harm than good. I have asked @anyx directly if he would consider renaming the bot or turning it off until fixed. As of right now, it is a bot that is giving a lot of false labels on good posts and I am not the only user who is having issues with it.
Out of all this, the only part I find really bad, is if you try and approach the user @anyx, your posts with either be ignored or his responses, I mean his comments basically hijacked this post https://steemit.com/games/@jacobtothe/magic-the-gathering-commander-deck-overview-6 If one tries to approach him with anything but he wants to hear it is as though he doesn't understand other opinions than his own, plus afterwards he went on a spree just downvoting comments. Please read through the comments of the posts above, I would love to find a way to have this resolved in any manner that isn't the owner of a bot ignoring MANY MANY comments regarding this bot and how it is currently running.
There are bots which report things all over Steemit. Some identify if a post has been Tweeted for example. Others indicate if a post has been linked elsewhere in Steemit.
These are useful tools as are tools which identify that source content came from somewhere inside or outside Steemit.
usually factual information. You claim it should be fixed. If it's presenting something false that would require fixing. If it presents a clear link to content which exists elsewhere what needs fixing? @cheetah is a scout. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not a mark for or against any given content. It's a presenter of
What I know about the project is the bot used to call out content as "possible plagiarism". As you can clearly see the bot now only states that something is available elsewhere. It doesn't accuse that there's no citation. I believe Cheetah is a fine name because it indicates speed and efficiency. It also indicated being a predator which I believe has been toned down in practice. In regards to the name it may have been a clever name chosen by @anyx
The language you use indicates your own bias in this matter. You claim the bot "marks" a post by adding a comment. You claim users and posts are being "hit".
I'm writing a comment right now and I'm neither "marking" nor "hitting" your post. Why is @cheetah any different?
To mark or hit would indicate flags. So far I haven't seen flags issued which weren't warranted. Your calls to flag @cheetah in my mind warrant a flag.
Several times already you've admitted you don't know or understand the system. @cheetah and @anyx have several posts introducing and describing the bot. I have no qualm if you choose not to educate yourself. I have a huge problem with you advocating action and making broad assumptions about something you never took even the slightest time to learn about. You're arguing from ignorance. You've admitted so. It's definitely a strike against your credibility.
P.S. Read some of the things you linked to. @anyx called the problem with @cheetah "fickle" not the user. Even indicated they wouldn't receive another comment from @cheetah in the future. Please read more carefully and you might see that steps are made to improve the bot.
Until I get more power I'll stick to poking fun at cheetah, it is flawed....
Let's go find self plagiarism while self plagiarising in the comments over and over... That's not hypocritical or anything...
I don't even know how the Steem Power or all those systems work, and I shouldn't have to, to know that a bot called "cheetah" should be named something else or be fixed. I do not code, so it shouldn't be on any other users than the maker to fix it or stop making Steemit posts look bad. The fact that the cheetah bot upvotes itself with other bots, buh.
