Yesterday, I wrote a post about an American restaurant in Bologna where you can eat all sorts of American food. But, who wants to eat hamburgers and American food in Bologna, Italy? I guess most people want to eat Italian, and that is why I visited Trattoria Pizzeria La Mela in the heart of Bologna to taste some real authentic Italian food.
The restaurant can be found very close to the most imporatnt attractions in Bologna, so it is a perfect place to eat during lunch time or dinner time. It is, however, important to know that most restaurants in Bologna are closed between lunch and dinner time, so you have to grab your food during lunch time, or you will have to wait for the restaurant to open again at 19.00.
I got to taste several Italian courses in the restaurant, not only the local bolognese tagliatelle, but also a Lasagne and some local pizza. You can see a picture of the Bolognese Tagliatelle in the top of the article, and here you can see pictures of the Lasagne and also a pizza slice.
The restaurant itself had great service, and the staff was really helpful upon ordering, and they always had a smile around the mouth. But, what about the quality of the food?
I have got to say that the pizza was really nice and delicious, but I wasn't that satisfied with the Lasagne and the Tagliatelle Bolognese. They didn't taste enough, or maybe the taste was too much... it is hard to descibe it in words, but somehow, it wasn't that delicious and fantastic taste that I would dream of when I think about a delicious Lasagne (and believe me, I am a big fan of lasagne, and also of Bolognese).
In other words, I enjoyed the restaurant, but first of all the pizza, and not so much the traditional Italian courses. But, I should mention it that one of the others who was there with me was completely in love with both the Lasagne and the Bolognese, so maybe I was in error here, and no the food...
