Have you been to Indonesia? Have you try Indonesia food before? Do you know, SEDERHANA in Malay language meaning "average", in Indonesian language it means "simple". However, this is not exactly what you would think of. This is a full scale Indonesian Padang cooking style. And Padang is a place famous for it's food recipe. So, let's go on with the "simple" yet above "average" cooking style restaurant.
I've got myself a cat fish. I remember the last I had this was 2014 in Seremban town, where I was post there to work. Until the day I resigned, I still managed to eat one more fish before I left that place. If you have not eaten river fish, cat fish has a lots of bones and if you're not a good fish eater, you could scratch your throat. The fish is first being marinated with secret recipe chili and salt before cooking. The meat is very soft and tender. Despite lots of bones, do not hurry and cut the fish as the chef already sliced it right on the bone line. As you use your utensil to separate the meat, you can use your fork to hold the bone and get a clean cut out of the meat. So you're safe to eat(still beware). The highlight is the tail section being fried to an extend it's dried and crunchy.
Fried spinach in ginger sauce and chopped chili. It's not that spicy after all, but the ginger taste really brings up the "fragrant" of the vegetable. It's quite salty if you're eating this as salad, but it's just nice to go with white rice. Come on, this is Asia! We eat everything with rice. Give me a slice of pizza, and a bowl of white rice. Give me a piece of KFC, and a bowl of rice. Give me a Heineken, and a bowl of rice. Ok. That went too far. Let's come back to Sederhana.
And I ordered a curry boiled egg. The egg is... well, it's an egg. The curry borth is very unique, as it tasted a little bit spicy, but it also taste a lot like pineapple, has the kind of fruity sensation to it. I can't tell how they do it, but I bet you can go down with a bowl of white rice by just adding broth into the rice! Amazing stuff.
This is called, Teh O Ice Limau, which is the Malay version of iced lemon tea. Instead of lemon, it goes with Lime(citrus). Despite both are from the same family, but their taste and aroma are quite different. Both of these fruit if you're eating them by themselves, you'll usually ended up with a puckered face, but your tongue will give you a signal the lemon is on the sweet side, where as a lime will give you a sensation of bitterness. So yea, try the Iced Lime Tea here, ultra refreshing with a different kind of taste bud explosion.
At the payment counter, there are boxes of fried tapioca in Chili sauce. Don't ask me, it's just pure wild. Free for testing! Perhaps next time I should bring a huge bottle of water here, sit here and whack this wicked stuff. There are different kind of cookies and pastries at the counter for sale, but I'm not ready to buy one because after lunch I will have to immediately run to grab a new phone. Finally, on my way back after gotten my new phone, I took a snapshot of the restaurant layout. It's clean and convenient. Plenty of parking space around this area, but do avoid 12 to 1pm the peak hour of corporate lunch hour. It's name is Sederhana, but they cook UNsimpled DISaverage food, and it's PADANG cooking style. Absolutely love it.
