It was way overdue!! My daughter's birthday was in November, right smack in the middle of SteemFest4 and the first week of her exams. So, the plan was to wait til end November to go for a birthday meal.... we finally did it over the weekend!
Since her heart beats for Korean Music/Artists to the extent of teaching herself how to speak and read Korean, we thought a Korean meal was in order. Having seen the queue outside KFry on many an occasion, an indication that the food is good, we went around teatime in the hopes of missing the lunch and the dinner crowd.
No such luck, we still had to wait for a bit. So I would suggest, you log on to their website and book a table first. Or, you can turn up and take a number as we did.
We were hoping our dagger stares while waiting outside, would make the patrons eat faster! hahaha. Ok, we didn't do that, but we did go through the menu so we could speed up the ordering process.
In 7 minutes, our number blinked on the screen, and we were ushered in to a booth that fits six.
This is their best seller. Spicy, cheesy fried chicken bumbuk. You have a choice of four flavours, which you can mix. We chose one spicy and non spicy, just incase the spicy was too spicy. But it wasn't and it tasted better than the non.
We quickly flipped through the menu, chose our dishes as well as two Bingsoos for dessert. The staff asked us if we were sure we wanted two with a quizical look. When we asked her why the concern, she pointed out that we had ordered quite a bit and that the desserts were big.
After looking around at the other tables, my sweet tooth compelled my lips to say, "yes, we'll have the two. Strawberry as well as the cookies and cream!!"
Even though the place was crowded, the service was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and the food came within 10 minutes. This X’tra Virgin K’ocktail (yes, no alcohol), Lyche and Strawberry flavoured were ordered by the boys to share. I found it refreshing and couldn't stop stealing sips every now and then.
Budae Jigae, a classic stew that feeds a big group. It is served with grilled chicken ham, sausage, chicken luncheon meat, tteoppokki(rice cakes), vegetables, cheddar cheese with ramyeon(noodles). The noodles and soup can be topped up (bottomless).
Nyanpa Blossom, deep fried onions served with white truffle oil cream and special sauce. It was crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and good enough to eat on its own. However, only order if you are a big eater or you are in a group.
Fried Chicken Wings with garlic and soy sauce for the picky eater but he ate everything on the table. That's a good sign.
And this is the popular dish which is prepared at your table. The chicken is removed from the hotplate, and then each piece is rolled in Mozarella cheese.
A must for cheese and chicken lovers. Not just Mozarella cheese but also cheese sauce. Honestly, there was only so much I could eat. Too much of a good thing I suppose, but amongst the six of us, we polished the plate.
And by the time the Bingsoo came, I was ready to burst. Now I undersand why the staff felt she had to warn us. This Strawberry Cheescake flavour, had a layer of cheese in the shaved ice. That was a nice surprise as we dug into it.
With a very generous helping of Orea Cookies, the table was a mess by the time we were done with this one.
My daughter, the foodie, who also gets upset when food is wasted, first made us eat as much as we could, then she sat there and slowly finished it all as we waited patiently.
And that first picture, was my favourite. The Bulgogi Fries, topped with minced beef and cheese (of course!!). Yummy!!!
Overall, it was a satisfying experience. My daughter was happy. The food was okay. The service was great. And they offered to sing her the birthday song (we heard them doing it for someone else) but she gracefully declined. So, you know where to bring your friends if you would like to make it a loud affair.
Cheers,
Sh33la
