I've written pretty extensively over the years about my tattoos. Each design I've chosen throughout the years has been sacred, almost like a talisman. This new one is no different.
The tattoo I chose to be my next—this geometric, single needle, abstract piece—might seem like just a collection of shapes and lines at first glance. But for me, this represents so much more. The interconnected circles symbolize unity and the cyclical nature of life. The flowing wave pattern reflects the unpredictable currents of existence, while the arrows and lines point to movement, growth, and progress.
And that tiny triangle?
For me, it represents balance, the perfect harmony between strength, stability, and creativity. Most of the piece will be uncolored line work except for the wave at the top, this will have a pop of two or three shades of blue in the watercolor style.
The single needle technique used in this design is inspired by the LA tattooist, Dr. Woo whose work is absolutely legendary.
I had originally wanted to incorporate this family crest designed by my artist friend, @opheliafu but I decided to go with the original geometric design as-is and have the family crest-style piece done as a separate tattoo at another time.
Placement
I don’t have much open space left on my arms but I’m considering either the inside of my left forearm or on my left chest. I’m leaning a little more towards the forearm because I would almost never see it if I had it put on my chest. I’ll likely be saving that open space for the family crest tattoo.
Now, all I have to do is make the appointment. Happy days, there’s nothing like the anticipation of getting a new tattoo!
Thanks for reading! All for now. Remember…trust your instincts, invest in you, live boldly, and take chances.
I love learning about the people’s meanings of their tattoos. It shows just how special it is and how much art on your body can mean to someone.
Brilliant explanation :)! Thank you for sharing
Thanks! I try to put a lot of thought into my body art. I'll think about design ideas for months sometimes before I make the appointment to have them done.
I also had some ideas for tattoos but I’m deadly scared of needles😭.. so unfortunately I don’t have any :,(
It is really beautiful and very creative. And it becomes more important when you describe and explain each image and the whole. How much can a tattoo like this cost? As I read, I wonder how many tattoos you have and when you got your first tattoo, and if you have had any erased or covered it with another tattoo. I think getting a tattoo is a very important decision: the story behind that tattoo should be special, as special as the image. Have a nice Sunday, Eric. Hugs
Thank you Nancy! All of mine mean something to me and remind me of the phase of life I was in when I got them. The cost depends on the artist you have do the work. My tattooist quoted me $225 for this one but I know him and how talented he is. It would be much more expensive (2-4x) in larger cities or a huge studio. I wish you a wonderful Sunday my friend! We're in the depth of winter now the temperatures are dipping below zero now. 74 days until spring! : )
I love it! Very minimalist yet expressive. And it seems like it would go really well with your existing arm stuff. Can't wait to see it done!
Thank you! I connected with the design the moment I saw it so I knew it was my next one. It looks like I may be able to get an appointment next week. If that works out I'll be posting about it soon! Enjoy the weekend.
Unique and uncommon ideas 💡 it's going to be awesome 👍. New year new tattoo!!
Thanks!
Nice to hear the symbolic meaning of geometrical tattoo. This really looks different. 👌
I love it! My next tattoo looks very similar:) But I really want to see your whole arms 😉
Thanks!

Steemit 😂 Mandalas are really special, especially if they mean something to the person. As you wrote, tattoos need to mean something to me, or I don't want one… Love your arms ;)
This is a nice geometric style!
Like it. I see the balance and even more...
Thank you! The design has a way of opening up your mind. It reminds my of something out of Leonardo DaVinci's notebooks. An added plus for these single needle pieces is it means less time in the chair.
That is a beautiful tat, and I love the meanings it holds.
Thanks! I think I'm going to have it done next week.
That's a very interesting design. I like it.
I connected with it the moment I saw it!
As time has gone by, tattoos have evolved and so has their meaning.
There are people who enjoy this artistic way of expression and others who see the tattoo as a way to express what they feel.
In this case, you have your way of seeing it and the expression of what it means.
In my personal criteria, besides its beauty and graphic quality, I see a relationship of time with life that I find wonderful.
Thank you for sharing.
Happy Sunday.
Cheers and greetings.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment! Have a wonderful week!
That's really cool. I think it is going to turn out quite well. I like all of the meaning that it has for you as well. The single needle design is definitely makes it pop a bit more.
Thanks, this will be my very first single-needle design. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like when it's done. I like that it's a little more understated. It's going to really hurt on the inside of the arm though. That area is way more tender than the outside of the arm.
Ah yes, I have heard that about the inside of the arm! Good thing pain is only temprorary!
This is beautiful, I love the meaning behind t, what it represents. Mine have all been a rite of passage, to celebrate moving on, or opening up more to life.
I hope you will post a photo of it, when it is inked onto your skin xx
Thank you! Yes, all mine have similar meanings...I've always gotten them all during transitionary periods in my life. I'm scheduled to get it this Thursday and I'll definitely be taking pictures and posting about it.
