Hmmm, I've never gotten a tattoo. It's not like others who feel like their bodies are an untouchable sanctuary. I could get a tattoo or a piercing at any moment, but I haven't felt the need or the urge to do so, to take such an unchangeable decision. But I find tattoos very aesthetic in others, so there's that. :P
I respect that. Our bodies are our only personal, physical material possession that we truly own. (not talking like a house and a couch and a dog way.) These decisions do need to be well thought out. I feel the need to get them as it is healing to me, to show how much it means to me as talking about it and putting it in words isnt enough. It feels more embedded in me and more complete. Just feels right :)
