Taylor Swift, like she promised, has revealed the music video for the second song from her upcoming album, Reputation. Ready For It features her playing several roles in the same music video, much like her first video from the album, Look What You Made Me Do.
The video, directed by Taylor’s favourite, Joseph Kahn, has a tone similar to the first and second Blade Runner films, complete with the assumed human character turning out to be a machine and humanoid caged and on display. There are also allusions from the Tron films with the same neon motifs displayed all over the humanoid Taylor’s body.
The video opens with the human Taylor walking the streets of clearly a future Earth or some planet, when she lands in front of a glass cage containing a machine that looks just like her. A quick rollover to the other side reveals a more sinister, Xenomorph-like creature from Alien.
The machine tries to use force on the human by firing a blaster at her but it doesn’t work. She later tries to enchant her with her white horse and stunning floating orbs of blue light and it finally does the job. The two touch through the glass wall and an explosion rips the fake skin off the ‘human’ Taylor’s face.
Yea, we don’t know what is up with the video so we’ll wait until fans come up with theories. Until then, watch it here:
