About 30 thousand workers are working temporarily. In accordance with the agreement signed with Bangladesh government in 2009, the workers of the garden get wages at Tk 48.46 and Tk 45 respectively. Permanent workers are given half kilogram of rice or flour per day as ration.

Tea is exported to countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Czech and Slovak Republic, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Japan, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Greece, Cyprus and Pakistan. Bangladesh's tea is known worldwide as 'Sylhet T'.

In the 21st century, Bangladesh Organic Tea started producing tea in Panchagarh. Its producer Kazi and Kazi. Besides, Panchagarh, Myanaguri Tea estate, Kazi and Kazi Tea Estate, TTCL tea gardens are available.
