My partner took this picture of me working in the garage cutting up some steel grills for one of my projects. Doesn't it look amazing with the sparks showering down like fireworks! Actually yes... I made a recirculating system so I could go out in the dry bush. It was a lot of fun with a lot of muddy water... and a few bits of colour at the end as reward. But the effort to get a little bit of gold is really a lot... I think very few of the gold miners in the old times actually made a good living!
I doubt they did unless they hit pay dirt with a big nugget. I think they usually got just enough to pay for their essentials and keep mining.
