RE: Some truth regarding Adani in Australia

I was more worried about the amount of money our government was chipping in to get this mine up and running. And the blatant lies about the amount of jobs this mine would create.

It seemed as if the government was willing to push this mine through despite the findings of the various studies conducted.

Sort:

The government hasn't pitched in all that much money now. There was big promises, but not much ever really came of it.

Just like the railway, that got scaled back dramatically.

The thing that most people does realise is that once this mine kicks off, there are half a dozen other mines in the same basin that will then also start on the back of this one. So its actually a huge problem for the economy if this mine wasn't to be approved.

It is pretty frustrating that any taxpayer money is put into something that needs to be dug up instead of grabbing all the free sunlight that QLD is famous for.

They would be better off investing in battery technology. Every household given a large battery to store their power to make solar actually reliable.
I'm not anti-renewable, but I am completely 100% pro-reliable. Solar and wind just isn't reliable enough yet. Coal is not going to be going anywhere for a long time.

Oh. I'm not an engineer, so I'm not sure of the specifics. What is making solar unreliable? I thought the actual disc things where durable enough to last 100 years, and there wasn't much in the way of moving parts, so not a lot can go wrong. Is it the batteries that are unreliable?
