I never used my feed in the beginning when I first joined, it was full of junk. But now I've culled my list 3 times since joining. I use my follow list not to just keep tabs on who I like to read on but who may be of interest for future reads and to give my support.
Same as what you have done, some people are inactive and I still keep them there in the off chance they come back. It should be used as a tracking tool rather than popularity as many have done. Having more followers/followings doesn't mean anything if you don't use it right.
Although I am due for another cull soon, depends when I get the chance to go through them all. You went through hundreds, that would have taken quite some time.
It did, but I was on a roll, and then it gave me this post idea, so I went with it. I did cut off the vast majority of the inactive accounts though. Many of them were from when I joined and just followed anyone. It seems to be the way when you start.
