Wonderful poem. I find, as a woman, that I tend to not consider my gender when I am thinking about the world and making decisions to do this or that. But then again, I am not in a corporate world where maybe it is more apparent the division of the sexes?

Thank you so much @donnadavisart I appreciate you stopping by to read and respond. :) I also don’t tend to think of gender too much in my own career...but I see it effect others...and even in the arts I see a disproportionate number of men in leadership/executive roles -- and women in programmatic or educational roles. I’ve also seen women be passed over or reviewed harshly for being mothers because their time can’t be fully dedicated to the organization (especially in nonprofit land where the culture rewards those who work overtime). A lot of time I think the real issues lie just under the surface--and the fact we can’t quite see them is what gives them longevity. I’ve started doing a test -- I look to see who controls the money, aka “power”, and most of the time its men in any sector. That’s usually a pretty good indicator of who is controlling the narrative and overall direction of any project...
