When life leads you to a wall, build a door.

I am exactly one week away from releasing my whitepaper.

I can hardly express my excitement with words.

My vision continues to grow clearer and clearer each day, like an enormous puzzle being put together piece by piece.

As zero hour draws near, I reflect on my motivations that is driving it all.

The Solar Slump since 2016

Since 2012, the Malaysian solar industry enjoyed 4 years of prosperity.

It was largely thanks to the nation's Feed-In-Tariff program; which allows solar power producers to sell electricity to the sole incumbent electric company at up to 5X the rate you consume (that's a huge profit!).

As a result, the program was highly popular and applications were taken up within seconds at every opportunity.

There was one caveat though.

The program was funded via collecting an additional 1.6% surcharge from almost every electricity consumer in the nation. I estimate this creates a fund of about RM 60 million a year.

However, by 2016, the former government announced that it had no more budget to support new applications. In other words, the funds have seemingly dried up. With the final round of incentives gone, solar power businesses took an immediate hit.

Including my dad's.

Helping Small Solar Power Businesses to Thrive

Apart from helping the environment, I want to help businesses like my dad's not just to survive in the industry; but to THRIVE!

My dad often says...

"Son, when a pond is empty, you need to go and search for a new pond."

Consistent with this belief, he is currently doing just that.

Meanwhile, I ask a different question.

"Can I build a new pond?"

This whitepaper shall be the product of all my accumulated experiences that I have gained from my years in...

  • Renewable Energy
  • Capital Finance & Fundraising
  • Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies

... to create an energy economy that will be the-first-of-its-kind in this world.

If it is to be... it is up to me.

Once I succeed in building this pond, I might indirectly help my dad to retire happily also.

And that would be my greatest achievement of all... from a son to a father.

Buzz

Hi, my name is Jason aka @buzz.lightyear. I envision a future where renewable energy is our main source of electricity in this lifetime; reducing the largest contributor of carbon emissions by 90% and bringing our global temperatures back to its natural balance.

I believe that this is no easy task but it is achievable with your support.

I am developing an open blockchain that incentivises both producers and consumers of renewable energy and am looking to collaborate with brilliant minds who share this vision so that we can create a future where it just makes sense to go 100% renewable, visit your local store, buy some latest tech and generate energy for your own use and for others.

I will read your whitepaper and support your business.

excited to hear what you have to share :) followed

Wow, you certainly have set yourself a real challenge and finishing a week earlier than the target you set yourself. Congrats.
I wish you the best, it would be great to think you have found a solution. If it works potentially other nations could benefit from your model.

I watch your progress with trepidation :P

Thanks @chaomos.
I have a lot of people to thank for their guidance along the way. Part of the goal definitely is to create a platform that has a framework and capacity with enough breadth and depth to so that it can be used anywhere in the world for the benefit of the people there.

The vision calls for it.

Yeah!! Can't wait for it @buzz.lightyear jiayou!

i am excited to hear your new plan about the solar business will follow your posting about it.

Being a SME supplier to the grid is one aspect of solar that can certainly be improved everywhere. Would be good to see how far the current grid in Malaysia has been upgraded to include more "smarts". Hope you'll be covering that in your paper.
Good luck.
