Yesterday, friends shared news on Weiss crypto rating announcement through WhatsApp. The first thing i notice was that Bitcoin is rated at C+, i just could believe what i saw. Question start popping on my head, asking what does this mean, how solid is the rating system, could it be a conspiracy theory, could it be manipulation, what the heck is Weiss and the biggest question was how will the market react. Oh boy, yes it did.
I also took time trying to figure out Weiss rating system but found nothing in details on the internet other than very surface like information.
So before you make any conclusion on the rating that Weiss and its associates made, i suggest you consider reading the following ;
What is the Consideration In Weiss Rating System?
The Weiss Cryptocurrency Ratings are based on a groundbreaking model that analyzes thousands of data points on each coin’s trading patterns, technology, adoption, security and more:
The Cryptocurrency Risk Index measures (a) relative and absolute price fluctuations over multiple time frames, (b) declines from peak to trough in terms of frequency and magnitude, (c) market bias, whether up or down, and other factors.
The Cryptocurrency Reward Index evaluates (a) returns compared to moving averages, (b) absolute returns compared to a benchmark, (c) smoothed returns, and other factors.
The Cryptocurrency Technology Index evaluates the level of anonymity, governance capabilities, the ability to upgrade, energy efficiency, scaling solutions, interoperability with other blockchains, plus other technological strengths or weaknesses.
The Cryptocurrency Fundamental Index measures transaction speed and scalability, market penetration, network security, decentralization of block production, network capacity, developer participation, public acceptance, plus other key factors.

My conclusion after doing some digging any my homework on Weiss, i finally decided to conclude to take it with a grain of salt. I also believe that because of these rating, it will change the crypto landscape if Weiss rating becomes the go-to lead on investing and trading 101 by the public.
But the ultimate question is, What does it mean to the top 5 coin that is rated by Weiss?
The top 5 Coin is Ether, EOS, Steem, Neo and Cardano. does this mean this is the best coin right now on the planet? Apparently, if you look at Weiss rating, it does suggest that.
For those full-time traders and crypto investors, this rating might change their game plan and some will now trade much carefully in weeks and month to come.
So for many Steemian who doesn't trade, what does this mean to us?
To me, i see this as a positive sign that i am in the right platform, beyond the existing fun in doing what we do in steemit while earning, this news is just assurance that we are on the right track.
Steem Blockchain is to me the most superior, while bitcoin and others are used for trading, steemit is set on creative content. its 3-second transaction, speed and scalability is a game changer. More importantly, steemit has a loyal community that dependant on it and wanting to see steemit grow. These are some of the qualities that define success of a coin. Here i wish to share @penguinpablo latest stats, Analyze that with the past stats, the growth is extremely positive. By the way, Thank you @penguinpablo for the stats updates, i really enjoy it.
So, For a literally unknown coin to be rated better compare to most of the season coin and other coins that traders claim supposedly promising coin, this rating is giving steemit a pat on the back saying that we are doing alright.
I honestly believe that steem will be beyond promising, it will deliver. All this even at a time when even Smart Media Token is not all out yet and the rating is already incredibly awesome.
This will give public confidence and more so awareness that steem is steaming, and is here to rock the world.
As a steemian, our goal is to continue ensuring that we deliver in sharing quality content, growing our community enhance our activity and increase our stake in steemit as we grow, we must ensure that steemit has value in our society and is adapted well by all walks of life. Our goal should continue telling everyone we know the power of steem and the greatness of steemit.
