A Month As A Steemit Community

in #teammalaysia7 years ago

The Beginning

The first moment I heard (or saw) Steemit, was from my cousin @arwine . She posted frequently about her steemit post at her Facebook profile. She wrote mostly about her hobby on flowers and plantation, I did read some of her post at that time, and I realized Steemit is just another blog just like the classic Blogspot.com . But then, I saw she stated that Steemit is a blogging site that actually pay/reward their writers. I was so confident that this site is another scam site like some kind of MLM, I mean, it is just so good to be true, there's no easy way to earn money!!!!! You just post and wait for someone to vote you, then you get paid for it? Phewww, only the lame will believe it, I thought to myself. So, I just ignored all those Steemit nonsense and go on with my life.

Later a month, me and my band were performing at Tuaran, so while waiting for our turn to get on the stage, I heard my friends, @angeljames and @darryljonesjr, talking something about a blog site that pay their writers. And while they were vigorously talking and promoting about it to some of our friends, I interrupted them by saying, "Ohh, Steemit kah??", and they both were like "yaaaaa!!!!". They were quite puzzled of how can I know about it. So, I told that one of the community is my cousin. But then, I asked them, if this site really, really, really pay their writers and they both confirmed it that Steemit is not a scam site. So, I was moved by that, and said, "there's to nothing lose, there's no registration fee at all", I registered my name in Steemit and wait for my password for one whole week. At first, I was thinking of just writing about my life in music journey and not really care about the money, Steemit for me was just like a self-expression to the world, plus, I did have a Blogspot account before, so, I think I should get back to writing, plus, It's fun!

My First Post

My first post was introducing myself to the community. I was blanked at first, I thought that the typing method was like the microsoft word or something, but its actually using some coding to make your post look more well organized. So before that, I was asked to join dischord group, whatsapp group and so on. I just followed what they asked me. And slowly, I learned the coding, mostly, the simple one. So I did posted my first post and I was quite impressed with myself, it feels like I have done one masterpiece of novel!! hahaha!! The first moment, I can't stop frequently going back to my post just to check how many upvotes have the community vote my post. The result didn't came out as I hoped for. I was , honestly, quite disappointed, even I didn't really hope for the upvote at the first place. I was started to quit steemit, thinking that I will not succeed in Steemit. But then, I met my cousins who's also in Steemit, @beverlyjoe and @verasj . Vera , insist me to keep on writing, no matter what, people will always read your post, no matter what you wrote. Plus, she just cashout 1,000 MYR just by writing on Steemit. I was surprised by that, and I just can't wait to go back and write more!

Along My Journey

The beautiful sign in TaLaC building

A month in Steemit, was like an adventurous journey, where I met many new people in my life, some become best buddies and some become my teachers.

Me and some of my steemians buddies went out to Tamparuli Living Arts Centre (TALAC). TALAC is a place where all the artist gather and express their idea. I never thought that this kind of place and platform exist in Sabah, and for me, its a quite great idea for promoting our local artist, especially in arts, to express and show the local/tourist of what they are capable of. Now TALAC is managed by @borneoairbrush and @inugarang . If you ever pass by Tamparuli, don't forget to stop by.

With the rest of my Steemit Bro & Sis

I managed to join the Steemit day-out at Beringgis FireFlies. There, I got the chance to meet @bitrocker2020 , @danieldoughty , @veenang , @papanog to name a few (sorry if I didn't get to mention some of you). We managed to take a boat trip to watch the sunset and fireflies. Plus, a dinner with all the participating steemians! It was a wonderful moment for us and hope there will be more monthly activity in this coming future.

@bitrocker2020 leading the steemit masterclass

I'm so glad to have teachers like @bitrocker2020 & @danieldoughty who are really concern about the Sabahan Steemit Community, as they were giving free classes to those who really want to learn more about Steemit. They also managed a Q & A sessions for those who are still confuse and having doubt. For those who interested in learning more about steemit, do not hesitate to connect with them and some of the fellow steemians.

I can't wait the future journey in Steemit, and wish to meet more new people, especially who share the same interest with me, that's music. Before I end, would like to say thank you to all who guided me from zero to not that quite hero level, you know who you are!! Till the next blog steemians, Ciaaooooooo~~~~

Thks for the mention bro !!! Keep writing keep posting .. steem on 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Chayo chayo...now that we got our teammalaysia upvote...tatap dapat punya!

Good write up @eldontang, all of us can be succesfull in Steemit. We just need to keep on persevering, learn and do our best, and we will be able to achieve our target. Look at Steemit as a hobby, don't stress yourself too much. You need to do more research on the tags though, I don't think Sabah and Kota Kinabalu tags is appropriate to use at the moment. Look for tags with higher audience and higher profitability.

Sweet ...cheers bro
