(Throw back) Last week my son stumbled ๐Ÿ˜ฏ๐Ÿคฏ upon my old National Geography magazine about whale ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‹, he quickly came to me the he want to see the whale bone at the museum. So I told him to wait till Sunday. And now here we are ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž....

It was my son 2nd visit, and both my wife and daughter 1st visit. This place gave me alot of nostalgic feeling of my school days. ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡. Almost everything here looks exactly same as 20 over years ago.

We walked towards the main building to buy our entrance ticket ๐ŸŽซ๐ŸŽซ first.

To my surprised, adult ticket ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿป ๐ŸŽซ๐ŸŽซ cost MYR2 only while children age below 12 is FREE ๐Ÿ†“๐Ÿ†“๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ (foreigner cost MYR15). These ticket rates was still the same as 20 over years ago!! My goodness! I even asked the lady at the counter!! I know it owned by state government but the place need maintenance and even other places' ticket ๐ŸŽซ๐ŸŽซ cost far than this๐Ÿ˜ฐ๐Ÿ˜ฐ. Oh well... what can I say... ๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜•

So off we went to the main building first. Upon entering it, we immediately greeted with the magnificent sight of the huge whale bone ๐Ÿ‹! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ (Don't mind me! Its my first time seeing it ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…) Everyone around us were so excited! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ

The sign said "NO PHOTO TAKING ALLOWED" ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ“ธ but nobody seems to bother at all. ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿคช Not even the security guards ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ... ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜….

We really spent quite long time looking at the bone. I felt like the very first time I saw dinosaur bone ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ It so exciting!! Anyway we started off with traditional costume section after that. This section displaying all the major ethnic people costume in Sabah, North Borneo.

Next we entered the 'Natural History Gallery' which exhibit all natural stuff from plants ๐ŸŒฟโ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿ€, to insects๐Ÿฆ‚๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ, to animals๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฆง๐Ÿ—๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆฆ. My son was more caught up in this. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ He really took his time looking at everything 1 by 1 and was so focused ๐Ÿง๐Ÿง.

I finally learned an insect name which I hated most ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿคฌ and really stamped into my head because of all the bad smell from it. Its the 'Whip Scorpion' ๐Ÿฆ‚๐Ÿฆ‚ It always sneaked into my room. There was once it sprayed its acetic smell to my hand ๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿคข when I swept it away while I was sleeping at night. No thought its actually part of scorpion species at all.

After that we entered the last section 'Pottery Gallery' ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ which exhibit all types of pottery found from the older days.

Finally we made our exit and head towards the old 'Train Gallery'. ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿš‚ Here we looked at the very very old steam engine train used during British governance era. And along the way, we looked at very old vintage cars.

After that we walked through forest ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒดtrail to the 'Cultural houses' area ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ. I love the trail very much because of the nature... ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‡ love the smell of trees ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฒ and sound of insects ๐Ÿฆ—๐Ÿฆ—๐Ÿž๐Ÿž. It gives me peace. ๐Ÿ˜‡

And this one was new to me... A draw bridge! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ๐Ÿคฏ๐ŸŒ‰ on a pond!!

Such a beautiful place ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜. How could you not fell in love with it... ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‡

img_0.7358779227410076

Along the trail, there's a stream ๐Ÿž๏ธ (behind those fences in the picture) that connected from the pond at the draw bridge ๐ŸŒ‰.

And finally reached the 'Cultural Houses'. Few of the houses ๐Ÿก๐Ÿก๐Ÿกwere built on top of the lake which connected to the pond at the draw bridge ๐ŸŒ‰ What a surprise!! Water Lilies blooming!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ. Men! What a blessing! ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‡Its really hard to catch up to such period and we were just on the right timing. My kids were so excited to see it.

Its almost noon when we finished viewing all the houses. There were more sections to go but my kids were complaining of hungry... ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… If you look at the map ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ, we only covered those area highlighted in red.

img_0.35611794078578946

Oh well, had to save it for next time... We slowly walked back towards the main building through another trail ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒดn headed to the car park ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš. Until next time ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ

Sounds you had much fun during your museum visit with your family. Great memories built there and beautiful captures too :) It's good that the museum kept the fees low even after many years :) Maybe to encourage more people to keep visiting :)

Yeah but the fee is too low.
