Road Trip of East Coast (Part 1): Sg Lembing and Its Time Capsule

in #teammalaysia7 years ago

Hi fellow Steemiters, how are you all? Hope you had a great week and achieve what you have planned. Today, I am going to share my experience in a road trip back in my working days in Singapore. That time, we were having a long weekend in Singapore and we took that opportunity to go for a road trip to East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

Our route started from Johor Bahru(Southern part of Peninsular Malaysia), all the way to Kota Bharu(Northern part of Peninsular Malaysia), along the old Federal Route 3. In between, we stopped by a few destinations where you will find lovely sceneries. For example, Sungai Lembing, an ex tin mining town near Kuantan.

Sungai Lembing is about 40 mins drive from the capital of Pahang. The town was booming due to abundant of tin and it was once the richest town in the world. Things changed over time and the town was almost left abandoned due to lack of opportunities for youngsters. Today, the town found another strategy to attract back the youngsters and even the tourists.

When we reached Sg Lembing, we went to Time Capsule accommodation which we booked in advanced from Internet. The price is reasonable, about RM120 per night per capsule. The capsule is actually a precast concrete pipe, about 2.5m in diameter. It is just nice for a two-person hideout. The facilities there were well equiped and if you don't mind the bites from mozzies, you may need to apply some insect repellent on your body. We had a quiet but great night there. The reason was simple, it's just too comfy.

Just too comfy inside!!

The dawn of next day, we went for hiking at Bukit Panorama. The hike was around 45mins and most of the hiking trail was staircase with handrail. The slope was quite steep. We were all tired by the time we got up to the peak. What if all the things happened at the peak was marvellous? I think all the tiredness will go away. See this for yourself....

The view was amazing with the golden rays bursting through the sea of clouds. At the horizon, you may find a standalone hill, where all the clouds or mist lied beneath the foothill. It was like a wonderland.

When the sun had gone up to a certain degree from horizon, we made our move to go down to the foothill. We went to the local market and had our breakfast before making our move to next destination (will be introduced in the next round!!)

Stay tuned fellow Steemiters! Hope you enjoy it! Appreciate your upvote if you find this is interesting and please follow my post for more fun and leisure stuff!!!
