Motivation. I totally don’t need it because I’m strong enough to cope with everything. Says no one ever.

Mummy and daddy almost lost me at my day 1 of entering the world. The scariest episodes keep coming starting at day 1. Episodes of my pale blue skin when born – of me having seizure – of me needed to be put on oxygen support – of me with the feeding tube inserted into my mouth and run down my stomach, because I wasn’t able to suck to feed on milk – of the worrisome wound on my scalp – of my MRI scan result – of being told that I won’t be the same as other babies, not be able to live normally.
What is your source of motivation when the world is so cruel to you?
I think mummy got depressed and sad, but still we keep moving on. Mummy and daddy have zero idea what Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), the brain injury that the doctors mentioned. It wasn’t explained clearly.
As soon as we got home, mummy tried searching about HIE on the internet. Mummy found out about a group in Facebook. It’s called HOPE FOR HIE. Knowing that there are so many families with HIE babies, they are in the same shoes as we are in, we know that we are not alone in this. Other than sharing information in the group, we also have WEEKLY MENTIONS every Tuesday. It’s one of my favorites being part of the group. Weekly mentions is where we share things that we are excited about. Some share about how happy they are when babies are starting to pull up to stand, head control, starting school, clapping hands for the first time, even about new wheelchair. Being able to mention and share about even the smallest thing, is the happiest feeling, especially when you know they would understand because we have almost similar journey.
Here’s my weekly mentions this week.
Others’ postings in the group is one of our sources of motivation. Here are some of our favorites. I hope these will motivate you in whatever situation that you are in right now or even use them to motivate others.
Credits to the parents of HOPE FOR HIE for the beautiful motivational quotes they shared.
