Humanity? Should we show some mercy to the person called criminal?

This is a big questions for me to answer. Since im working closed and meet with this person called criminal almost everyday i have so much in my mind about them.

It's really a big questions for me to answer either we should show some mercy, to sympathize or have pity to them.

I have meet so many type of criminal, either the one did big cases such as murder, rape, etc2. or small cases like fighting between husband and wife..and so on....(to many to mention)...

Sometimes, there are this type of criminal who you feel like you want to kick them on their face and sometimes there are also the one you feel pity, sympathize to them.

Like yesterday night, i received one police report from a criminal which he still waiting for his trial case in the court. He is an OKU, deaf and mute escorted by his IO case come to make a report that he was beaten by a prison officer in his sel.

Since he is an OKU's it's a lil bit hard to know what exactly happend to him and what is the reason he was beaten by the prison officer. But, he told me that, everday he was beaten without any reasons.

To make it short, i have a picture of his injury

During the time i took his statement, i just don't know but i have this feeling that he maybe a good person.

Maybe, during the time he did the crime something might happened to him.

But, no matter what the reason is, let the law judge him. I hope the truth will previl so the victim will rest in peace.

So my steemians friend, should we judge him because he is a criminal?

Do you think that he has a right to defence himself or he should just accept the "treatment" from the prison officer?

Or should we the community judge him for the crime he did?

Sort:

Hi @policestreet, i might not be the person to judge another person. However, the law itself is very grey, people always find loop hole and exploit it. But, what i can judge is based on an ethical and logic, is he/she is morally right or wrong (based on evident).

I agreed you with this @cklai..

Let the criminal be judged according to the existing law and be handed down the punishment. But to beat someone who already served his punishment is a BIG no no.

I like the philosophy practised by the Norwegians as far as criminals are a concern. They (authority) will try their level best to prepare convict to be a good citizen when they reintroduce back to the community.

At the end of the day,

treat others as you would like them to treat you.

Indeed true @papanog, I'm with you on this.. I believe that the existing law will do their job.. he will get what he deserved anywhere..
