Blessed Sunday people..
A walk down memory lane.. visiting the historical remnants of Sandakan.
Our morning consisted of a walk exploring the Sandakan Heritage Site with a Group of from the Sabah Society.
Sandakan is the capital of North Borneo British Chattered Company 1870’s before the Second World War. There are still several places and sites that still remain in tact even after the War.
We started the trail at 0900am and finished around 1130. It takes around 2 and half hours. It's a great way to walk around the city and get to know some of Sandakans history. Highlights include the Sandakan Heritage Museum, William Pryer Monument, Hundreds steps, Remains of old Staircase, Goddess of Mercy Chinese Temple, San Sin Kung Temple, St.Michael and All Angels Church, and Agnes Keith House which offer a view into the affluent past of the city's colonial days, before it was completely destroyed by the Second World War by Allied bombings.
If Sandakan wasn’t destroyed during the Second World War, it could have been a world heritage site.
