The Sabah International Fishing Tournament is an annual event in Kota Kinabalu held every April since 1993 (26 years). Sabah is known for its bottom fishing as we have plenty of shoals to fish on. The tournament’s fishing ground is at the Spratly Island Ardasier reef claimed by Malaysia. This event attracts 200 local and international participation and offer attractive cash and fishing products up for grabs for the person who lands the heaviest weight of accumulated from 3 different species of fish. If you can’t participate, you can come and see the fishes during judging at the Sutera Harbour Marina on the final day from 12pm to 4pm. This year’s winner landed a Dogtooth Tuna, Ruby Snapper and a Wahoo.
