Spirituality
Music had a vital part in Philippines in controlling and affecting the sacred and social being of the Filipinos. Music was consideref sacred and was declared as a fine art, and a subject to be taught. Primitive Writing
When time pen and paper wasn't invented yet the Filipinos used palm leaves, rattan canes and barks of trees and pieces of edged stick to compose a song. Many instrument made from bamboo and wood were formed during the primitive days and the reed type of wind instruments was first used by the Chinese and the Japanese.
Intruments
Plucking instruments like guitar, banduria, octavina, laud and banjo were also used to play music in Philippines. The Gansa and the Kulintang are few of the Muslim Filipino instruments and bamboo flute and gong are the mountain area instruments.
Culture of Filipino Music
Traditional music of the Philippines consist of Gong music was then split on the region into gangsa and bossed gongs and the Harana and the Kundiman poetic songs which reminds the islands of the Spanish era. Another traditional music is the Rondalla which was performed in Philippines where mandolins and guitars are used. Along with it is the Tinikling and Carinosa played in music dance form.

The Philippine madrigal singers have depict in front of the world the culture of Philippines in the line of choral music. Currently Philippines can gladly tell that they have share more or less 200 choral composers and arrangers to music.
Rocking n' Roll
The roots of rock music in Philippines laid Pepe Smith, Mike Hanopol and Wally Gonzales. Philippine rock did conducted experiments by putting together folk and rock music. It snatched the mind of the younger generation. The song 'Killer Joe' was aired on 1960s, Philippine rock earn appreciation worldwide for its foremost achievement in the history of music. Soon the Philippine rock climbed the American charts.
Musical Play
Year 1841 the Tondo theatre was erected to leg Filipino plays and Spanish plays. Engineer Jose Bosch created the Teatro Castellano theatre for the aim of presenting songs and plays. The Teatro Comico in manila built in 1970 and the Arroceros theatre neighboring the Mehan garden for performing Philippine plays were few of other common Filipino theatres in the history of Filipino Music.
