Team Possible Power - A Glimpse Into The Future

A bit of information for the players of the Team Possible Power Guild about the future of the guild.

Hey fellow guildies,

I hope you guys are still enjoying the game.

I normally don't post from this account, but since I feel like this information is only important for the members of team Possible Power, I thought it might be the best way to reach all of you in an easy way.

Let me start by saying how amazing you all are. When I started the guild back in August 2019, I could never have imagined the guild would grow like it did, and that we would be almost at level 8 only 14 months later. That's a little under 1 million DEC that we have collected.

That’s a team effort you can all be proud of.

In the near and distant future, the game will undergo some changes. And that's what I wanted to talk to you guys about.

Lands

We all know about the land expansion that will be developed in 2021.

The first land presale is over, the second presale will go live on November 28th. You can find more information about that one in the Splinterlands announcement post:

Splinterlands Land Presale - Stage 2 Details

Guild Feature Expansions

This is the main purpose of this post.

Some time in the next couple of months, new features will be added to the guilds. If you ask me, it's about time that happens, because until now, the purpose of guilds is a bit limited. It's nice to have a DEC bonus and a shop discount, but compared to what we have put in as a collective, guilds are a little undervalued right now.

But that's about to change.

The developers are working on adding guild vs guild tournaments. How that will work is a bit unknown yet, but what we do know is that it will require coordination, and as a result also communication between the guild members.

By the time guild tournaments will be released (end 2020/begin 2021), we'll all need to make sure to check the tavern or the power-guild-chat-channel on Discord to get in touch with each other.

I think a lot of you are already doing this. There are some people, however, who have never communicated at all. I really hope that will change once guild wars have been released, because we'll need each other if we want to do good in those guild wars.

I do think we have a great team in Team Possible Power, so I'm pretty confident that will all work out eventually.

Let me get on to the important stuff...

New Guild Buildings

Together with guild wars, more functionalities will be added to the guilds, under the form of new buildings. We now have the Guild Hall (upgraded by contributing DEC) and the Quest Lodge (upgraded by contribution daily quests).

From the bits and pieces of information I gathered from listening to the recent AMA's, it's clear that new buildings will also have to be upgraded by contributing DEC.

Me and @royaleagle have been talking about it, trying to find a good way to not have to request an extra weekly guild contribution from members, on top of the 250 DEC/week you are all contributing now.

The idea is to cap Team Possible Power at level 8. Level 8 will have a 12% DEC bonus and a 6% shop bonus.

Since we're only 38 250 DEC away from level 8, it was high time to get this post out.

Capping the guild at level 8 means we won't grow it further to become a level 9 guild.

There are a couple of reasons why we think this would be the best way to go forward, with the (little) information that is available to us now:

  • Getting to level 9 will cost us another 750k DEC.
Even if I calculate in 2 extra members (2 extra spots will open once we reach level 8), at 250 DEC/week with 25 members, it will take us 120 weeks to reach that goal. That's +2 years.

  • Our chances in guild wars
The founders have hinted that in guild wars, guilds of the same level will be matched against each other. Level 9 and level 10 guilds have a lot of maxed accounts, while most of our members have silver and gold league decks. If we have to compete against those highest level decks, we don't really stand a chance.

  • We don't want to raise the weekly contribution
Right now, the base contribution is 250 DEC/week. I know that for some of you, it's not hard to come up with that. I also know that for some of the lower ranked accounts, 250 DEC is barely doable.
We don't know what any of the new buildings will be good for, but it's pretty obvious that - if we want to be competitive - we'll have to build them too.
Building the guild hall and those extra buildings all at the same time is going to be impossible without raising the weekly contribution. So we feel that we have to make the choice that will fit us best.

The Proposal

We still have 38 250 DEC to go to get to that level 8 guild hall. With basic contributions, that's still a little over 6 weeks to go before we reach level 8.

So, plenty of time for everyone to share their thoughts on the proposal.

So here's the idea:

Once we've reached that level 8, we're going to stop contributing directly to the guild hall, so we can keep it at level 8.

Instead, weekly contributions will be sent to a so-called 'savings' account. (I'll set up a new account specifically for that goal.)

We'll be collecting DEC in that savings account, and keep it there until new guild buildings are being released. Once these are live, we can send the saved DEC to the new building(s), and jump start them, so we'll be able to enjoy the benefits these new buildings bring faster than when we would be keep contributing to the main guild hall (DEC that is basically lost, because we won't be able to get to level 9 in the next 2 years anyway).

I'll be setting up the new account soon, and will let all of you know about it, but for now, I just wanted to get this message out, and hear what you guys think of the idea.

(Of course, everything that has been said about guild tournaments and guild upgrades by the founders is still open to change - we can always adapt out strategy once we know more)

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions.

Sort:

All this sounds good to me. I have 2 proposals. Instead of just accumulating Dec in a new account, why not

  1. Buy legendary cards from the market and rent them to the guild members for cheaper prices.
  2. Or lease them out on the market and earn more Dec.
This way we keep on earning Dec and at the same time prices if they go up it will get us more dec when sold back.
Say 50,000 Dec after 6 months turned itself to 75,000
    Thoughts ?

Haha, a real entrepreneur's mindset. :0)
I actually never thought of that.

I like the idea, provided we can buy legendaries at/very close to burn value, to minimize the risk.

Definitely something to keep in mind for when the prices drop again.

Project Activity Update

Great idea and truly thinking of the future.
On top of that indeed maybe we can extend the earnings of TP Power through some additional revenue streams. One another option that I use is to delegate SPT and earn passive income from that. Maybe also this can be embedded in the future of TP Power.

Thanks for your reply, @sm-goldies.
As of now, TP Power doesn't own any additional assets/tokens.
But who knows what the future may bring, right?

BTW, I saw cryptomancer hint in SL chat that guild expansions are really close to being released ;0)
